摘要:
The merging of sex-separated physical education departments has brought the profession to a crossroad that could have implications for future generations. As the merger process has occurred, women have systematically lost more leadership positions than men. Unless the profession takes action, women will remain vulnerable and the loss of women leaders will continue. Possible reasons for the loss of women leaders are discussed. Suggestions for women and men concerned with fostering equal opportunity within the profession are given.

摘要:
Margaret H'Doubler attained a degree of achievement in dance and left a legacy which still influences the art form today. Teaching and writing at the University of Wisconsin for 44 years, H'Doubler established a program of dance and pioneered new forms of movement which affected the field of dance far beyond the campus at Wisconsin. This paper traces the evolution of those ideas and the people and processes which influenced and were influenced by H'Doubler. Perhaps more importantly, it speaks to the intangible qualities of character and grace which symbolize this remarkable woman.

摘要:
One problem of contemporary education is that it tends to be overly specialized. Ideally, education, as opposed to mere training, should develop broad personal competence. Some educational programs promote this whole person competence more than others. Amongst physical activities the art of wilderness travel unites a wide variety of skills and knowledge. It can be seen as a paradigm of an art which unifies the many goals of outdoor education. In this paper wilderness travel is described as an art, its features are examined, and its general lessons described.“Wilderness Travel”symbolizes not only the actualart of travel through the wilderness, but also the way in which such journeys can teach us important lessons about daily life.
