摘要:
The hidden cumculum consists of implicit values taught and learned through the process of schooling. The first&on of this paper describes theoretical and methodological approaches to research in this area, drawing examples from general education literature. The second section reviews research related to the hidden cumculum in physical education. The final section proposes a model for feminist analysis of the hidden curriculum in sport and physical education.

摘要:
The purpose of this study was to identify contextual factors affecting the conduct of a physical education program in an urban, multiracial junior high school. Using particiant observation, formal interviews, and informal discussion with teachers and students, the investigator spent 84 hours in the school observing class and nonclass interactions. Four contextual factors affecting the conduct of the physical education program were identified. (a) outdoor activity space, (b) central office policies, (c) schoolbased professional support for teaching, and (d) the unique qualities of urban, multiracial schools. The results are discussed in terms of the effects of contextual factors on the quality of curriculum and instruction possible in a particular school. Analysis of data from this field study underscores the importance of considering contextual factors in defining expectations for what physical educators can achieve. A primary conclusion is that in at least some instances, change in physical education must be perceived as a political as well as a pedagogical problem.

摘要:
In this paper theimmediatemanagerial environment in sport and physical education, or physical education and athletics, is the major point of departure and is discussed in detail. Thegeneralmanagerial environment is described in broader terms only as part of a concluding statement. It is argued that the immediate environment of the physical education and athletics unit includes the organizational climate, suppliers, controllers, controllees, advisers, adversaries, and so-called publics with opinions. Four phenomena are explained that make the organizational system of the department, school, or college open to a greater or lesser degree (e.g., departmental members who enter and exit from the unit). After discussing each of the components of the immediate environment (e.g., the suppliers), it is asserted that a manager should also plan to assist the larger community (the general environment) as well by accepting some responsibility for the structure and function of the larger society. This includes the promotion of internationalism in sport and developmental physical activity as well as part of a growing world family. Finally, it is stressed that search committees should increasingly select people who are committed to sound management theory in accord with ethical practice.

摘要:
The development of values through physical activity has been a longstanding objective of physical educators and coaches. Unfortunately, there is little evidence about values education through physical activity. This paper discusses the problems educators have encountered in values development in a sports setting and presents a model through which a more productive approach to teaching can be taken. The model suggests that educators must make a stronger commitment to values education by being better role models and that they actually teach toward learning through the affective domain. It also utilizes a structural-developmental approach from Kohlberg's concept of moral reasoning as its base.

摘要:
A survey of literature in dance and aesthetics fmds eight recurring fundamental components which form a concrete framework for the dance composition. These are (a) content, (b) the raw material of movement, (c) movement vocabulary, (d) process, (e) form, (f) performer and (g) production accessories, resulting in (h) expression. In addition, central to the art of dance is its unique medium of expression, the human body through which all flows. The interaction and interrelation of these components produces an integrated gestalt which becomes the dance. Awareness of the potential and diversity within each area and skill in the manipulation of these constitutes the craft of choreography. From this underlying aesthetic theory emerges a model which is a pragmatic and firm foundation for thorough analysis of a dance. Its application serves to increase the understanding of the complex process of choreography and therefore is useful to historian, scholar, choreographer, critic, and student.

摘要:
This paper examines the sociological implications of sport as a male preserve. Sport is a gendered cultural form that has been dominated by men and masculinity. The effects of this domination upon broader patterns of social relations have been misrepresented in much of the literature on sport and gender, where sport is often conceptualized as a static fact, rather than as a dynamic social practice. Analysis of sport as social practice directs attention to the manner in which sport gives meaning to broader patterns of social relations. In the case of gender relations, sport as a male preserve has contributed to the oppression of women through the objectification and dornination of their physicality and sexuality. A feminist alternative to sport as a male preserve challenges gender inequality by challenging sexual stereotypes and patriarchal control of women's bodies.

摘要:
Deregulation as national policy may diminish equal opportunity efforts for women, racial minorities, and the disabled. Provisions for enforcing laws such as Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 may steadily decline. While external monitoring may weaken, educators may assume more responsibility for equal opportunity in their institutions and may press for self-regulation. Since educational institutions are systems, systemic solutions to problem areas must be found. Strategies must be developed to overcome employment barriers and to create an open system. Furthermore, the strength of equal opportunity efforts is related to the strength of the physical education profession.
