摘要:
The first wholly realistic determination of the length of the Post-glacial time in S. Sweden was made by N. O. Holst and published in 1909. His calculations were based on a combination of archaeologic dating of peat horizons in a bog in S. Scania and rough estimates of rates of deposition for the same bog profile. According to his calculations the length of the Post-glacial time (sensuHolst) was 6,900 years. In 1910 G. De Geer presented the preliminary results of an investigation with the purpose of establishing an absolute chronology for the Late-Quaternary time based on varve measurements and varve connections. He also introduced a new subdivision of the Late-Quaternary time based on certain events during the deglaciation. His conclusion was that the Gotiglacial time began about 12,000 years ago. The first more detailed absolute chronology for S. Sweden was presented in 1935 by Tage Nilsson. The basic part of the chronology was a complete pollen zone system for Scania. The connection with the calendar of the Christian era was achieved for the last 4,500 years by pollen analysis of archaeologically dated finds and for older parts on varve-dated events and on interpolations based on statistical treatment of rates of deposition for the whole investigated area. The stages of the Baltic development were also connected to the chronology. It was later improved by the use of radiocarbon dating and the results of a revision of the Swedish varve chronology, but surprisingly small corrections had to be made, indicating the high standard of the basic work. Investigations in Blekinge by B. E. Berglund showed that the Scanian pollen zone system was valid also there with only small corrections in the absolute chronology. Berglund has also added more details to the South Swedish absolute chronology by investigations concerning the age of the different transgressions in Blekinge. He has further confirmed T. Nilsson's assumptions about the possibility of finding Bölling sediments in Scania.

摘要:
An investigative exploratory boring through the Quaternary deposits was made at Tofthög in southern Scania in 1964. The thickness of the soil-cover is 110.2 m. The underlying Cretaceous limestone was reached 95 m below sea-level. Most of the penetrated strata were taken up as cores with a diameter of 100 mm. By studying carbonate content, rock-fragment distribution, etc., it has been possible to establish a detailed section through the Quaternary deposits. Among other things, three different till beds were found, the lowest one unique in the area and therefore considered to be of high age.

摘要:
The pronounced ice marginal deposit on the west coast of Sweden called the Gothenburg moraine, is discussed. This terminal moraine has been surveyed from the eastern part of Gothenburg in the north to the area south of the river Viskan in the south. About 17 kilometres in the northern part of the county of Halland is surveyed for a map in the scale of 1:20.000. The general features of the terminal moraine and its relation to topographical conditions, its stratification and age are discussed.

摘要:
This paper describes some results of an investigation of ground-water flow in till soils. The investigation was carried out in “the true moraine area” in the southeast of Sweden, where distinctive morphological types of moraine terrain occur, in the first place drumlin-shaped hills and hummocky moraine. Geological investigations, short-term pumping tests and tracer experiments showed that there exist characteristic differences in flow pattern, velocity of flow, storage, and yield of ground water between drumlin terrain and hummocky moraine. These differences are due to the differences in structure and stratigraphy but not in texture.

摘要:
Referring to Late-Glacial lake sediments at Mt. Kullen (NW Scania) studied by means of biostratigraphic and chemical methods the authors discuss the development of one of the lakes and the surrounding terrestric soils. For all constituents analysed in the sediments the annual deposition per unit area has been calculated. The decreasing supply of inorganic material during the Late-Glacial time is related to the development of a stable humus layer. The content of organic matter in the sediments may be due more to a variation of the soil erosion than to changes in the production of organic matter. Soil leaching during the mild Alleröd period is indicated and correlated with the vegetational development.

摘要:
The present report deals with aspects on peatland classification. Peatlands in South Sweden are classified partly as to surface morphology and partly as to stratigraphy and development. Two main categories of peatland are discussed: ombrotrophic peatland (rain-water conditioned) and minerotrophic peatland (supplied with mineral soil water). Each category exhibits types related to differences in hydrotopography, water movements, geomorphology etc. The basal part in the stratigraphy of peatlands makes it plain that peatlands may be developed by paludification of mineral soil, terrestrialization of lakes, and, as to ombrotrophic peatlands, by ombrotrophication upon peat strata. The regional distribution in South Sweden of peatland types distinguished is reviewed in broad outlines.
