Upper Ordovician shales of the Jerrestad Formation (Ashgill,Eodindymene pulchraZone) from a borehole at Koängen, Scania (Skåne), have yielded pyritized spicules of a previously unknown type. The spicules have two lateral rays (diverging at 125–130°) and one median ray, all in one plane and up to a millimetre in length. The rays are flattened with a central longitudinal furrow on each side, giving them a dumb-bell shaped cross section. At the central junction there is a projection approximately normal to the plane of the rays. The spicules were probably originally calcific and composed of at least five individual crystals. They are described asVaccipraticola ypsilonn. gen., n. sp.Vaccipraticolamay have been a pelagic organism somewhat similar to the pluteus larvae of some echinoderms, but the possibility that the spicules formed a ‘conventional’ spicular skeleton in a larger organism cannot be excluded. The systematic position ofVaccipraticolais unknown.

摘要:
Till fabric in a dislocated till from a coastal cliff in western Sjælland, Denmark, is decribed. Based on analyses of different parts of a recumbent syncline, possible causes for the formation of the dislocations and the internal till fabric are discussed. It is concluded that the present till fabric is developed from an earlier fabric, which was reorientated subglacially due to inhomogeneous shear in connection with the transgression of a later glacier.

摘要:
Patterned ground phenomena within a lacustrine littoral zone have not been reported previously from southwestern Sweden. The patterned ground on the island of Läkarebo ö consists of stone pits, sorted polygons, and a few boulder-free areas, as well as other features. Evidence is discussed as to whether the patterned ground was developed in an arctic climate with permafrost or in a temperate climate with seasonal variations. It seems that the present lake water level has influenced the development and it is likely that the phenomena have developed recently.

摘要:
Coarse organic matter, composed mainly of filamentous algae, has been14C dated in a marine muddy clay from the lake Domsjön on Hunneberg. Four dates were c. 600–800 years younger than previous dates of the bulk sediment. These new dates, ranging between ca. 11 600 B.P. and ca. 11 800 B.P. are discussed in relation to deglaciation chronology, Late Weichselian pollen stratigraphy and problems of dating sediments with a low content of organic matter.

A logarithmic transformation equation, theta (θ), applied to the Atterberg grade scale is introduced in order to facilitate statistical processing. This parameter is built up in analogy with the phi-notation of Wentworth and can easily be converted into phi-units and millimetres.
