A locality with boulder depressions, sorted fields, stripes and nets has been mapped (Fig. 2). Some other localities with supposed periglacial boulder accumulations are briefly mentioned. The area is situated just south of the central Swedish terminal moraines and the objects described are supposed to be of Younger Dryas age.

A buried podsol profile in one of the ancient inland dunes at Brattforsheden in central Sweden is described. Two C14-datings of this horizon gave ages of 2940 (3030) ± 90 B. P. and 500 (510) ± 70 B. P. Evidently, transformation of the dunes has occurred much later than the main dune-building period, which according to previous investigations (Hörner 1927) ended shortly after the deglaciation of the area (about 10.000 B. P.).

The term “subglacial limestone”, as originally defined by the present author (1964), should be applied only to such limestone deposits whose characteristics and mode of occurrence point towards an undoubtedly subglacial origin. On the contrary, other types of thin limestone deposits, which often form small hemispherical bodies on the bedrock surface and which are not of a subglacial origin, should not be so named, nor confused with subglacial limestone which is a quite different type of deposits (cp.Kers1964, Figs. 3, 4). A minor occurrence of limestone in central Sweden, recently treated as subglacial limestone by Åhman (1971), is evidently an example of the above mentioned type of postglacial concretions and not a subglacial limestone. —A new find of subglacial limestone is reported by the author from Galdhöpiggen, Norway.

Géol. Fr., C. R. Somm., No. 3, Textfig. 14). The new nameBaltisphaeridium perpaucispinumis therefore proposed as a replacement forBaltisphaeridium paucispinumKjellström, 1971.
