摘要:
KAUR, A., JONG, K., SANDS, V. E.&SOEPADMO, E., 1986.Cytoembryology of some Malaysian dipterocarps, with some evidence of apomixis.Embryological and cytological studies on some members of the Dipterocarpaceae were undertaken. Of the dipterocarps investigated 83% were diploids. Two new polyploids were observed, namelyShorea resinosa(2n= 3x = 21) andHopea subalata(2n= 3x = 21). Multiple seedlings were observed inH. subalata, Shorea agami, S. argentifolia, S. ovalis, S. paucifloraandS. resinosa. For the first time embryological studies have conclusively demonstrated reproduction by agamospermy in 5.ovalisandS. agami.Considerable evidence leads to the inference thatH. subalata, S. resinosaand 5.macropteraare also agamosperms. Each of these produces multiple seedlings. Of these apomictic species three are polyploids, namelyS. ovalis(2n= 4x = 28), H. subalata (2n= 3x = 21) andS. resinosa(2n= 3x = 21), whereasS. agami(2n= 14) andS. macroptera(2n= 14) are diploids.

摘要:
KHANDELWAL, S., 1986.The morphological nature of the fertile spike in the Ophiogiossaceae.A study of a large collection of specimens belonging to 12 species ofOphioglossumrevealed the presence of many abnormal structures in the tropophyll and the spike. These anomalous structures suggest that the fertile spike ofOphioglossumis derived from the modified pinnae of a compound leaf. Compound vegetative leaves are possessed by its alliesBotrychiumandHelminthostachys.

摘要:
ADSERSEN, A.&SVENDSEN, A. B., 1986.A comparative study ofScalesiaspecies (Asteraceae) by gas chromatographic analysis of the monoterpene hydrocarbons of their essential oils. The monoterpene hydrocarbons of the essential oils of 13 speciesof Scalesia, Asteraceae, endemic to the Galapagos Islands, were analysed by gas chromatography to determine whether the composition of these compounds could show any characteristics for the various species. Marked differences in the monoterpene hydrocarbon patterns of theScalesiaspecies investigated were observed. Whereas a‐pinene was usually found in amounts of 30–50%,Scalesia villosacontained only 12%. Sabinene usually occurred in amounts of 10‐1.5%, butS. divisaandS. affiniscontained about twice as much. The limonene content was usually less than 1%, butS. microcephala, S. bauriiandS. affiniscontained amounts varying from about2%to

摘要:
ARCHANGELSKY, S., TAYLOR, T. N.&KURMANN, M. H., 1985.Ultrastructural studies of fossil plant cuticles:Ticoa harrisiifrom the early Cretaceous of Argentina. The fine structure of fossil plant cuticles of Cretaceous age demonstrates well preserved layers that are topographically equivalent to those in some extant plants. Cuticle stratification on specialized structures (stomatal apparatus and trichomes) is presented, together with an account of the fine structure of both the upper and lower cuticular membrane. Levels of cuticle stratification are compared with those of extant plants.

摘要:
SEALY, J. R., 1985.A revision of the genusSarcococca(Buxaceae). The genusSarcococcais idely distributed in SE Asia from Afghanistan through the Himalaya to SE Tibet, Assam, Upper Burma and China, southwards in peninsula India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indochina, to Java and Sumatra, Taiwan and Luzon. The genus is accepted as comprising 11 species, one with three varieties, two with two varieties each, and another of two forms. These are described in detail.Sarcococca walhchiif.membranaceafrom Manipur, is a new form and V.zevlanicavar.brevifoliais a new combination.

摘要:
REVEAL, J. L., 1985.Additional comments on Linnaean types of eastern NorthAmerican plants.Five temperate eastern North American species proposed by Linnaeus in the 1753 edition ofSpecies Plantarumare typified. As a result significant nomenclatural changes occur in two genera,LecheaandScutellaria. Clitoria mariana, described in 1753, is lectotypified on a specimen examined by Linnaeus{Clayton 108).No nomenclatural change results from this lectotypification. The existing lectotypeof Lechea minoris not in accordance with Linnaeus' protologue. The specimen used and cited by Linnaeus was representative of a species currently known asL. intermediaLeggett ex Britton. That name becomes a synonym underL. minorand the entity previously referred to asL. minormust now be calledL. thymifoliaMichx. Two specimens ofPolygonum sagittatumare potential lertotypes. The Kalm specimen is an atypical expression most similar to an endemic restricted to SE Virginia where Kalm never collected. A second collection, a garden specimen in the Clifford herbarium, is representative of the species as found throughout its range. The latter specimen is selected here as the lectotype. Gronovius and Linnaeus mislabelled specimens ofSanicula marilanicaandS. canadensisso as to confuse hopelessly the application of the names. By examining the original Clayton specimens and descriptions written by Gronovius, and cited by Linnaeus, it is possible to lectotypify each species on Clayton specimens so as to maintain the modern application of the names. As a result of restricted concepts and existing typification, the nameScutellaria integrijoliamust be applied to what is now calledS. nervosaPursh whileS. hyssopifoliamust now be applied to what has long been known asS. integrijolia.A new combination,S. hyssopifoliavar.hispida(Benth.) Reveal, is made.
