AbstractComparative studies of the pathogenicity of eight isolates of threeSeiridiumspecies were carried out by stem inoculations onCupressus sempervirensandC. glabraseedlings and clones.Seiridium cardinaleandS. cupressicaused bigger and more severe cankers than all strains ofS. unicorne.During the first nine months after inoculation, the canker length ofS. cardinalewas larger than the cankers ofS. cupressi.However, during the second year after inoculation,S. cupressicankers were larger and more severe than those of 5.cardinale.

AbstractFungi colonizing overground portions ofQuercus robur artpresented separately for each of the following types of disease symptoms: leaves with atrophy and necrotic areas, dead branches, dead tops of branches, dead water sprouts, local necrotic areas in bark and phloem, locally dead and discoloured sapwood in debarked places, local discolorations inside sapwood, extensive nec‐rotic areas on stems, dead trees. Over 80 species of fungi were found in all, mainly from As‐comycotina and Deuteromycotina. Connected with each type of symptom there were several species of fungi which were more frequent than the remaining ones. AbstractThe foliage resin composition of Cupressus sempervirens var. pyramidalis showed significant differences between healthy trees and trees infested with Diplodia pinea f. sp. cupressi and/or Seiridium cardinale. AbstractResults of a test on the effects of Antiblue and Biocide at various concentrations and times of immersion on the growth sapstain and mould fungi are presented. Antiblue (active ingredient, sodium pentachlorophenate) was the better chemical providing complete control at the lowest concentration of 1.5%. Biocide, a chlorinated derivative and local substitute for Antiblue, pro‐vided 55% control at 4 and 8% concentrations and 74% control at the highest concentration of 12%. AbstractFourteen provenances of lodgepole pine artificially inoculated with a local isolate ofSirococcus strobilinusvaried in their susceptibility to the pathogen. Provenances from the Dry Interior (31.9%) and the Sierra (14.3%) had significantly lower disease incidence than those from the Interior Wet Belt (51.9%), the Coast (62.5%) and the Cascade Range (58.6%). These results indicate the potential for selecting seed sources with low levels of susceptibility toSirococcusshoot blight.
