摘要:
AbstractNodal cankers caused byC. sororiaon Corsican pine were three times as common as internodal cankers. Natural infections reached maximum incidence on the fourth internode from the apex in branches and stems, but on stem internodes only on the ninth internode down. The longitudinal rate of canker spread was approximately 4 times that of the tangential rate. Crops of Corsican pine on N‐facing slopes were more severely infected than those on S‐facing slopes or flat areas, but in all cases the frequency of infection increased progressively with crop age. Cankers on individual stems showed a highly significant concentration on Northerly and Easterly aspects. Evidence is presented which suggests that the temperature differentials observed on different sectors of tree trunks may influence the duration of water films and hence limit the time period during which spore germination is possi

摘要:
AbstractThe influence of hot mix asphalt plants on vegetation with special regard to vapours from asphaltic bitumen. Vapours from asphaltic bitumen can be neglected as a factor injurious to plants because of the small amount generally exhaled by hot mix asphalt plants. Vegetation damage observed was due to sulfur dioxide, dust and soot.A method for identifying condensed vapours from asphaltic bitumen deposited on plant surfaces is discussed.

摘要:
AbstractWounds on 90Acer rubrumtrees were inoculated withTrichoderma viridein July and August 1973 to determine the effect of the fungus on the development of decay. The trees were 45 years old and 15 cm diam at 1.4 m aboveground. Each tree had 12 wounds, 1.4 cm in diam and 5 cm deep. After a year 28 trees were harvested and isolations were made from the discolored, and decayed wood associated with each wound.Trichoderma viridewas reisolated from all wounds that were inoculated with it. Hymenomycetes were isolated frequently from decayed wood associated with wounds not inoculated withT. viride. No Hymenomycetes were isolated from wounds inoculated withT. viride.

摘要:
AbstractThe influence of SO2and HF on free amino acids of spruce. The influence of the air pollutants SO2and HF on composition and amount of free amino acids was investigated. Distinct differences in the pattern of amino acids are caused, particularly in glutaminic acid and compounds based on it.

摘要:
AbstractStudies of cytology and growth of different strains of Fomes annosus (Fr.) Cooke. I. Numbers of nuclei and DNA content in different isolations and stages of development. In cytological and cytophotometric studies, determinations were made of nuclear numbers and DNA contents of both conidia and basidiospores, of the primary mycelium and of mycelium after plasmogamy. Information was also obtained on parasexual phenomena in dikaryotic mycelium which can be held responsible for the great variability of the fungus.

摘要:
AbstractTen years study of the discharge of ascospores is described. As the discharge started each year before the first flushing leaves reached the susceptible stage, growers can determine the best date of the first spraying simply from the ing stage of the host. Radio warnings based on the first date of ascospore discharge are superfluous.

AbstractLiterature on pathogens observed on lodgepole pine (Pinus contortavar.latifoliaS. Wats.) grown in Finland is briefly reviewed.Heterobasidion annosum(Fr.)
