摘要:
AbstractIn the wood of trees ofAbies albaMill., which were affected by “fir–dying”, morphological and physiological alterations were examined in order to investigate the origin of the disease. In this context also the influence on the technological wood quality was consi

摘要:
AbstractBiological methods can help to control root‐infecting fungi such asFomes annosusandArmillaria mellea. For example, inoculation of pine stumps with the fungusPeniophora giganteais widely used againstF.annosusin Britain. Experiments arc in progress to determine whether similar methods can be used for stumps of other conifers. The main sources of infection byArmillariaare stumps of broad‐leaved trees, which are often treated chemically to prevent regrowth. Some of these treatments promote colonization by saprophytic fungi that compete well withArmillaria. In experiments, direct inoculation of stumps combined with chemical treatment has given encouraging resu

摘要:
AbstractInfluence of different organic materials on the initiation and growth of rhizomorphs of Armillariella mellea (Vahl) Karst. in the soil. The influence of different types of organic material on the initiation, growth, and branching of subterranean rhizomorphs ofArmillariella mellea(Vahl) Karst. was studied under experimental conditions.Substances rich in lignin and cellulose stimulate rhizomorphic growth while reducing the number of rhizomorphs and their degree of branching. Substances rich in starch and organic nitrogen reduce both the growth and initiation of rhizomorphs, sometimes to a great extent.

摘要:
AbstractSevere leaf spot disease ofPomoideae, Rosaceaecaused by a species ofEntomosporiumhas recently been observed in Kyushu and the central to western parts of Honshu, Japan. Symptoms and signs on the evergreen and deciduous host species are described in detail. Morphologically, 25 Japanese collections occurring on 9 host species could not be divided into clearly separated groups. Germination of conidia and growth of mycelial colonies were studied under various conditions.
