摘要:
AbstractIn the spring of 1977, scattered trees in young plantations of Norway spruce showed discoloration and loss of 1976 needles on twigs just below the apex. The main roots of damaged trees were smaller than those of healthy trees, and the extension roots lacked short roots and mycorrhizae. The transpiration rate of the current shoots of damaged trees was also higher. The damage was assumed to be the result of drought during the two previous years; the trees were thought to differ genetically in their ability to withstand water stress.

摘要:
Abstract33 Isolates ofFomes annosus(Heterobasidion annosum) were analysed for their isoenzyme pattern of the enzyme Lactate Dehydrogenase (E.C. 1.1.1.27), Malate Dehydrogenase (E.C. 1.1.1.38), and Laccase (E.C. 1.10.3.2). For lactate dehydrogenase and malate dehydrogenase, a conspicuously high degree of variation in the isoenzyme pattern was found, indicating a rather high degree of genetic variability in the loci coding for these enzymes. The isoenzyme spectrum of laccase, however, was the same in all the strains which were tested.

摘要:
AbstractAscocoryne sarcoides(Jacquin ex S.F. Gray) Groves and Wilson has been reported to be widely distributed and common in living stems ofPiceaspp. in Europe and Canada.A. cylichnium(L.‐R. Tulasne) Korf has been reported relatively seldom from such stems in Europe and apparently not at all in Canada. However, the identifications can usually not be verified because descriptions of cultures are rarely given.A. cylichniummay be common in spruce stems in both regions. Ways of infection and distribution in the stem are mentioned, and data on enzyme production and effect on wood are give

摘要:
AbstractFreshly wounded stem sections ofP. tremuloidesMichx. produce phytoalexin when inoculated with mycelium ofHypoxylon mammatum(Wahl.) Mill., andAlternaria sp. These exudates are inhibitory against spore germination of these two fungi and, although inhibitory against mycelial growth ofAlternariasp., have no effect on the mycelial growth ofH. mammatum. It was possible to correlate the amount of phytoalexin elicited by different strains with the inhibitory activity.

摘要:
AbstractFresh pine stump surfaces act selectively for primary invaders such asFomes annosusthat competes successfully against other microorganisms. However, a series of chemical reactions on the stump surface due to aeriation and the hosts response to wounding may be implicated in the selectivity of the host for certain microorganisms. The theory of stump selectivity of coniferous trees forF. annosusas well as the theory of wound reaction and protection wood are discussed. The sequence of events after wounding is complicated and the present investigation concentrates on the processes associated with the host response to wounding.

摘要:
AbstractFresh stumps of Norway spruce (Picea abies) were inoculated withPeniophora gigantea(Fr.) Massee,Botrytis cinereaPers. ex Fr.,Gliocladium deliquescensSopp,Trichoderma viridePers. ex Fr. ex S. F. Gray aggr. andVerticicladiella proceraKendrick in order to study their effect on infection byHeterobasidion annosum(Fr.) Bref. The organisms colonizing spruce stumps under natural conditions were identified by collecting samples in the field. In addition, the effect of season of the year, air temperature, precipitation and relative air temperature on fungal colonization of the stumps was investigated.

摘要:
AbstractA simple method of diagnosing Ceratocystis fimbriata f. platani in standing trees.Bluish or purple streaks are found at the margins of lesions caused byCeratocystis fimbriataf.platani. These contain the fungus systematically. Cores may be taken with an augur from any such streaks, the core then being cut into discs which are kept in a humid chamber at 20–25°C.C. fimbriata, if present, produces diagnostic endo‐conidia after 2–4 days of incubation in 50–90 % of the
