摘要:
AbstractTwo types of spherical viruslike particles measuring ca. 25–30 nm and 80 nm in diameter, respec‐tively, were found both in ringfleck mosaic affected mountain ash and adjacent raspberry bushes in the Bavarian Forest. The smaller particles were also found in symptomless mountain ash in the same forest. The sap from infected mountain ash reacted with an antiserum to tomato spotted wilt virus in agar‐gel‐diffusion test. No reactions were obtained with raspberry or mountain ash sap when tested against antisera to a number of small spherical plant

摘要:
AbstractPseudomonas fluorescens, Pseudomonasspp.,Bacillusspp.,Enterobacterspp.,Serratiaspp. andAgrobacterium radiobacterwere isolated from root‐free soils of the Boreal Mixedwood Forest of Ontario a, nd found to be capable of inhibiting the linear growth ofArmillaria ostoyae in vitro.Isolates ofP. fluorescens, Bacillusspp. andA. radiobacterwere the most effective inhibitors of mycelial growth. To test the ability of the bacteria to suppress rhizomorph formation,A. gallica, which produces rhizomorphs in culture more consistently than doesA. ostoyae, was used; only a small fraction ofP. fluorescensandBacillusspp. isolates were capable of preventingin vitrorhizomorph formation byA. gallic

摘要:
AbstractThe appearance ofMelampsoraspp. rust on a range ofSalixspp. clones used for short rotation coppice was recorded. The progress of the disease and its subsequent effect on leaf fall was also recorded. Rust pustules from all the clones described were examined using the Stereoscan Elec‐tron Microscope. This revealed no differences in uredospore architecture which could be consis‐tently related to h

摘要:
AbstractThe ascomycetePezicula cinnamomea(DC.) Sacc. [Anamorph:Cryptosporiopsis grisea(Pers.) Petr.] causes Pezicula canker of Red Oak(Quercus rubraL.) in Germany and is also associated with bark diseases of other oak species. The author's studies on morphology, biology and en‐dophytism ofP. cinnamomeaare presented and its ecological role is discussed. It can be con‐cluded thatP. cinnamomeais a species with a broad host range. The fungus is a common en‐dophyte of Red Oak bark, and development of Pezicula canker is dependent on reduction of host v

摘要:
AbstractSeedlings of Norway Spruce and Scots Pine were inoculated with S and P strains of the root rot fungusHeterobasidion annosum.Infection frequencies through the living bark layers were not related to subgroup affiliation in neither spruces nor pines. Growth ratesin vitrowere not related to growth ratesin vivo.Oxygen concentration had a stronger effect on the growth rates of P than on S strains.

摘要:
AbstractIdentity of mycorrhizas and isolation of symbionts and associated fungi from Sitka spruce growing in pure and mixed stands with either Japanese larch or Lodgepole pine are described and compared. More mycorrhizal types and sporocarps of the Agaricales were collected from mixed stands. Mycorrhizas ofLactarius rufus, Paxillus involutusandSuillusspp. were more prevalent on roots from mixed stands. The most common unidentified mycorrhizal type (type B) had features similar to synthesized mycorrhizas of two Basidiomycete isolates.Suillus grevilleiand three un‐identified types were associated specifically with Japanese larch. The main associating fungi wereOidiodendronsp. andMycelium radicis atrovirens. The association of a “nurse” tree with Sitka spruce provides a more diverse mycorrhizal flora, the majority of which are shared between the tree sp

摘要:
AbstractSoluble proteins extracted from the mycelium of strains ofCeratocystis fimbriata(Ell. et Halst) Davidson f. sp.plataniWalter were separated on native and SDS‐polyacrylamide gradient gel electrophoresis. The protein patterns were compared and the electrophoretic profiles of all the strains examined showed striking intraspecific similarities. The use or protein banding patterns as a diagnostic criterion to distinguish strains of C.fimbriatais discusse
