摘要:
AbstractIn glasshouse experiments,Cylindrocladium quinqueseptatum, which was associated with outbreaks of leaf spot and shoot blight in a young plantation ofEucalpytus microcorysin north Queensland during the 1982 and 1983 autumns, was pathogenic on seedlings of E. microcorys and caused varying degrees of leaf spot and shoot blight in ten species of Eucalyptus from major taxonomic groupings of the genus, When the outbreaks occurred, the weather was unusually showery with minimum temperatures above 16°C. In vitro studies showed that free water was essential for conidial germination, which occurred between 14–32°C. The optimum for mycelial growth was 28.5°C. In vivo studies showed that leaf penetration. by germinated conidia was via the stomata. Mancozeb was more effective at controlling the disease than benomyl, captan or copper oxychloride. The potential importance of C.quinqueseptatumand options for control in youngEucalyptusplantations are discu

AbstractMacrophomina phaseolina(Tassi) Goid. caused a serious root and stem rot in juvenile seedlings ofEucalyptusin nurseries. This is a new host record. The pathogen produced systemic infection in the seedlings. The symptoms and histopathology and factors influencing the disease were studied. Of five fungicides tried in the laboratory and in the field, bavistin and dithane M‐45 at 0.2% showed promising results for the control of the diseas

摘要:
AbstractThe soils of thirty‐five Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis) plantations in southern Britain were surveyed for the presence of the root‐ and butt‐rotting fungus P. Schweinitzii. As a soil inhabitant, the fungus was found to be present in plantations with both broadleaved woodland histories and non‐woodland histories, but it was normally isolated at a higher frequency from those ex‐broadleaved woodland sites which contained diseased Sitka spruce. The implications of the presence of the fungus in the soils of the formerly non‐woodland sites, where no disease has been observed, is discussed in relation to its infection biology, as currently

摘要:
AbstractPersistent soil infestations withPhaeolus schweinitziiwere successfully established in the forest environment using basidiospores, but there was no evidence that the fungus spread freeely through the soil while existing as a competitive saprophyte.Diseased stumps and roots of Sitka spruce remained a source of sporophore production for more than 17 years, but the principal flush of sporulation occurred within the first 7 years after felling.

摘要:
AbstractDouglas‐fir [Pseudotsuga menziesii(Mirb.) Franco] stumps infested withPhellinus weirii(Murr.) Gilb. were inoculated with the antagonistTrichoderma viridePers.: Fr. Colonization of the stumps byTrichodermaspp. after one year was significantly higher in the upper 10‐cm than in the middle or lower 10‐cm section even though inoculum was present at all levels. A pellet inoculum made from fermented barley grains and spores proved to be superior inoculum to colonized dowels, but no difference was found among the three isolates ofT. viridetested. Decayed wood was more readily colonized than stained wood and was much more readily colonized than sound

摘要:
AbstractMelmpsora pinitorquaonPopulus tremulafrom Tuscany andM. larici‐tremulaeonP. tremulafrom central Alps were artificially inoculated on the same pycnio‐aecial hosts in the genera Pinus andLarix, and were compared on the grounds of their pathogenicity and of some morphological aspects. The results indicate that the two rusts can be effectively considered as two separate species as they are different both in their pathogenicity, not withstanding the partially overlapping host range, and their morphology, at least in a few charact
