摘要:
AbstractCell walls ofFomes annosuscontain basically the same structural components as other basidiomycetes, e. g.Schizophyllum commune: glucans and chitin. They were found, however, to be more resistant to chemical and enzymatical hydrolysis.

摘要:
AbstractSymptoms of frost injury to young Norway spruce occurred in most of south‐eastern Norway at the beginning of March 1977. Needles and bark of the previous year's and, to a lesser degree, of the two‐year‐old shoots, were affected. The injury was most severe in plantations, especially of southern provenances on high quality sites. There was little or no effect of altitude, terrain or degree of exposure. The injury is presumed to have been initiated by unfavourable weather in 1976 (an extremely dry summer followed by a wet and cold autumn) and triggered by large daily temperature fluctuations towards the end of February when the tissues were lethally in

摘要:
AbstractEvidence of biological suppressiveness of Pythium in forest soils. Fifteen different forest soils were collected and studied. All of them were free of parasiticPythiumspp. although saprophyticPythiumwere sometimes plentiful. After inoculation with parasiticPythiumspp., changes in inoculum potential were followed using cucumber seedlings as baits. Three kinds of behaviour were observed:– inoculum potential increased with time (conducive soil);– inoculum potential remains at a low value (tolerant soil);– inoculum potential decreased with time (suppressive soil). Two different biological mechanisms occur in suppressive soils:– opposition to colonisation byPythium;– development ofPythiumoccurred but the inoculum potential was not

摘要:
AbstractThe present study is part of an investigation of growth inhibition mechanisms inPicea abiesagainstFomes annosusand is concerned with the induction of ectolaccase activity inFomes annosus(3 strains) grown on cellobiose and ligninsulphonate and a 1:1 mixture of these substrates. It is shown that mycelial growth is almost independent of the substrates used. In two of theF. annosusstrains laccase is induced only by the use of ligninsulphonate whereas in the third strain it seems to be constitutive produced, which means that the laccase production is independent of the substrate.

摘要:
AbstractPhytoalexin produced by aspen in response to infection byHypoxylon mammatumwas isolated and found to be active against ascospore germination ofHypoxylon mammatumand conidial germination ofAlternariasp. Analysis carried out by thin layer chromatography suggests that the active compounds are phenolic glycosides. These compounds gave an inhibition up to 92.5% when tested against the germinationof Alternariaspores.

摘要:
AbstractThe host range of theEntomosporiumfungus was proved to be limited to the Rosaceae, especially to the sub‐familyPomoideae, through comprehensive inoculation experiments. No pathogenic strains occurred among the isolates from different hosts. The fungus overwinters on diseased leaves on trees or on the ground and on lesions on young twigs. Conidia on them serve as the source of primary infection in spring. Formation of the perfect state was not observed in Japa

摘要:
AbstractSymptoms and etiology of dieback of silver fir (fir dying). I. Evaluation of disease Symptoms. The percentage of dead crown and the intensity of “stork's‐nest” formation, expressed as a shoot length ratio, are disease symptoms more objective and easier to handle than the degree of needle retention. In silver firs, a normal wetwood core must be distinguished from a pathological one. Only the latter forms part of the silver fir dieback syndrome. Frequently a net ofArmillariarhizomorphs is found in the root systems of diseased trees, sometimes down to

摘要:
AbstractSandal logs after removal from the natural stands are stored in depots pending sale. During this storage they are heaped in the open, exposed to the elements; consequently the logs are attacked by a number of basidiomycetous fungi; mainly the attack is on sapwood, rarely heartwood is also affected. In view of the value of sandalwood, it is necessary to protect the logs to prevent deterioration of both sapwood and heartwood.

摘要:
AbstractScots pine seed differ widely in colour. The black ones are more resistant to infection by damping‐off fungi. No significant differences were found related ro colour of seed coat in germination energy and capacity and 1000‐seed weight. Wide quantitative and qualitative differences in fatty acids content in the seed coats depending on seed colour and physiological state (resting, germinating and infected seeds) may affect differences in resistance of infection by damping‐off
