摘要:
Recent studies show that between 5 and 10% of Europe's energy needs could be met by biomass fuels by the year 2000. Biomass resources could substitute for fossil fuels by providing heat, electricity and liquid fuels. Several countries could provide up to one half of their energy requirements from biomass if required. The national resources and biomass energy programmes of 15 European countries are described. The types of biomass resources, the major conversion technologies and factors which affect biomass projects are discussed.

摘要:
Biomethanation of algae is an elegant way to convert solar energy into a chemical fuel, i.e. methane. The microbiological process of methanogenesis is beginning to be understood and is leading to a reliable technology. Favorable running conditions were elicited by experiments at the laboratory scale for the marine algaTetraselmis.The process is being developed at the 1-m3scale at Lamezia (Italy). From these experiments, conceptual parameters for a full-scale demonstratior plant are calculated.

Rate constants for the photochemical reduction of Ru(bpy)3+3, O2evolution, and CO2+production were measured in the photochemical sacrificial system CO(NH3)5Cl2+/Ru(bpy)2+3/H2O. The experiments were performed in HSO-4/SO2-4or CH3COOH/CH3COO-media at various pH's in the range 0.8-5.8.

摘要:
A system simulating the output voltage-current characteristics of a photovoltaic array is described. The simulator may be used to test the performance of PV arrays and associated power conditioning equipment necessary for the autonomous or interconnected operation of photovoltaic energy sources. The simulator's main features include simplicity of construction, wide parametric variability and low cost. It is capable of reproducing the output characteristics of commercially available arrays at varying solar irradiation levels with sufficient accuracy. The design ensures the lowest possible power dissipation and minimal thermal drift. It is estimated that the cost of the simulator is an insignificant fraction of the actual array cost in the kilowatt power range.
