摘要:
An analysis is presented of the potential efficiency of epitaxial silicon cells grown on upgraded metallurgical grade substrates. The analysis is done varying the different base and substrate parameters. It is concluded that with reasonably good lifetime parameters the combination of a high doping in the substrate and of a thin active epitaxial zone can lead to better efficiencies than those achievable with conventional non epitaxial cells.

摘要:
Thermal stratification and fluid motion in solar water storage tanks have been investigated theoretically and experimentally. Transparent glass test sections were used in the experiment to permit visual observation of the flow fields. An electric water heater was used to simulate solar collectors. Experiments were conducted under different conditions in which a solar system is likely to operate. Altogether, about 130 test runs were conducted at various temperatures and flow rates of water at the inlet to the store. It was found that the location of the inlet/outlet ports has considerable effect on the mixing of incoming fluids with those in store

摘要:
In this communication, new designs of inverted multiwick and tubular multiwick solar stills are discussed. The analysis of both new designs of solar still are presented. Comparisons are also made between the performance of the proposed design and conventional multiwick solar still. It is concluded that inverted multiwick solar still gives about 20% better performance than conventional multiwick solar still.

摘要:
It is shown that enzymatic hydrolysis of biomass can decisively contribute to supplement indigenous sources of fuels and chemicals. The utilization of hemicellulose and cellulose requires preliminary pretreatment of biomass which can be efficiently accomplished and references are given for the optimization of recovery procedures. Bioconversion of both hemicellulose and cellulose is discussed and the effects of temperature, pH, substrate concentration and product inhibition are shown on the basis of experimental evidence. Process by-products-low molecular weight chemicals formed during biomass pretreatment - were fully characterized and details are reported of the analytical methods which were employed. It was found that higher sugar yields are reached when hydrolysis is performed making use of enzymic composites from different strains.
