摘要:
Diffuse solar radiation has been correlated with relative sunshine duration and extraterrestrial solar radiation as well as with global solar radiation at Ibadan, Nigeria. On the basis of these correlations, empirical equations have been proposed with their associated coefficients calculated by fitting the available experimental data to obtain a linear Angstrom type equation and to a quadratic form. When both global solar irradiation and relative sunshine duration data are available, the recommended equation for Ibadan is:

摘要:
Amorphous silicon PV technology transfer is carried out by a transnational consortium consisting of one industry (NAPS France) and seven research institutes and university laboratories. One of the strong features of OASIS is the involvement of an actual industry giving the opportunity to implement new developments in an industrial environment. The project aims at improving the EC industrial competitiveness regarding module production. A thorough assessment of the production process is a prerequisite for later implementations. Outdoor degradation tests and characterizations of degraded and non-degraded modules have been performed. From characterizations of separate layers and interfaces it was concluded that the TCO and window p-layer as well as the TCO/p interlace are not optimal.

摘要:
This paper outlines the development of programmes which investigate architectural strategies for reducing energy use in buildings and which devise and implement means of introducing such strategies to European Community architects, and means of providing the technical information needed to design energy-efficient buildings. The experience is considered as a case study of a European effort to bring about technical change in architectural design and in the light of a widely-held perception that the integration of ‘scientific’ information in architectural design is problematic.

Research on passive and low energy architecture has been recently oriented towards passive techniques in order to satisfy the cooling needs of buildings. One of the techniques which has been considered is radiative cooling. The potential of radiative cooling mainly in the United States has already been evaluated. However, a similar attempt has not been made for the southern European countries, where the weather in summer is very hot and passive cooling applications could make a significant contribution to the achievement of thermal comfort in buildings.This paper investigates the feasibility of applying radiative cooling techniques in southern European countries by presenting the results of the calculations of the sky temperature depression and of the performance of a typical radiative flat plate air cooler. These calculations were based on mean monthly weather data available for 28 southern European cities, covering a range of latitudes between 34° and 46°. Available data from some southeastern U.S. cities, have also been used. This allowed for a comparative study on the performance of radiative cooling systems between southern Europe and the southeastern United States. The results have shown that radiative cooling could be applied successfully in most south European locations.

摘要:
A model which describes the transient behaviour of a particulate solar collector is presented. The transient behaviour of the collector is resulted from sudden change in the intensity of the incident solar radiation and in the inlet fluid temperature. Temperature distribution within the particulate domain is obtained and as a result, the performance of the particulate collector is evaluated. The effect of different parameters, such as Biot and Peclet numbers, on the transient behaviour of the collector is analyzed.
