摘要:
The paper presents a comprehensive experimental study of the effects of environmental factors on both the efficiency and the electrical power output of a 160-arrays photovoltaic power system. Direct normal (DN) isolation, ambient temperature and wind speed are considered as the key environmental parameters in this study. These environmental factors are location dependent and their effects vary accordingly.

摘要:
In any solar power system where a number of collectors (Photovoltaic or Thermal) of different kinds are used to collect solar energy, shading of collectors by their neighbors could most likely occur during some period of the day, especially near sunrise and sunset. It is desired that any shadow be avoided or be restricted for small periods of time.

摘要:
The variation of the optimum efficiency of an array of silicon solar cells with diffuse ratio has been investigated experimentally. Data collected from two geographical locations in Nigeria (Port Harcourt, which is on latitude 4.43°N and longitude 7.10°E; and Enugu, which is on latitude 6.20°N, and longitude 7.30°E), show that the optimum efficiency of an array of silicon solar cells increases with diffuse ratio. Under clear and partly overcast weather conditions, a change of 0.1 in the diffuse ratio results in 5 to 10% change in efficiency, while the same change under overcast weather conditions, results in 20 to 35% increase in optimum efficiency. Temperature fluctuations contribute less than 4,26% of the total change in efficiency.

摘要:
This paper describes the design, manufacture and performance of a new type of solar distillation unit. The unit operates at a pressure below the atmospheric and utilizes a flat-plate collector. The designed unit is intended for an experimental purpose and operates on draw and fill or non-flow basis. The unit can provide distilled water from any available brackish or saline water.
