The purpose of this article was to present a review of the processing of scintigraphic data, which are more or less frequently used at the present time. Certain problems are also emphasized, which are encountered during the processing and interpretation of digitalized scintigraphic images, particularly during the quantification of the accumulation of radiopharmaceuticals.

The device described above is used for whole-body scintigraphy of the skeleton. Up to this time we have investigated more then 10000 patients. In its application this device represents a new system improving diagnostic interpretation of morbid variations in the skeleton. The time needing for one investigation is essentially shorter than for investigations using other methods. The data of the scintigram are available for digital image processing. The required software was developed in order to control both the whole process of scintigraphic procedure and image processing. Measuring of the distribution of radiopharmaceulicals belonging to a relatively great area within a limited space.

The growing number of in vitro measurement of samples, esp. of125I-labelled samples within radioimmunoassay and other applications stimulates the search for advanced concepts of measuring systems. A method is described for iodination of 2,6-dimethylacetanilide and preparation of a corresponding IDA-derivative for labelling with99mTc. The iodination is achieved by electrophylic substitution reaction of chloroacetanilide in the presence of ferroiodide and copperchloride as catalyst. The product of the reaction is 4-iodine-2,6-dimethylacetanilide. The synthesis yield is 70–76%. The synthetized compound was identified by IR an NMR spectroscopy. The insertion of an iodine atom in the benzene ring of this compound decreases its urinary excretion an hastens the liver and blood clearance. The urinary excretion of 2,6-dimethyl IDA (8.5%) decreases to a value of 1.8% of the injected dose when the iodinated preparate is used.

The preparation of insoluble stannic molybdate precipitate was radiometrically investigated using Na2MoO4-99Mo solution. For routine preparation of the precipitate, equal volumes of stannic chloride and sodium molybdate solutions (1.08: 1 M/M) were stirred together at 27°C. Stannic molybdate-99Mo precipitates prepared from Na2MoO4-99Mo solutions are a good source for99mTc-generator. Greater than 60% of the precipitate available99mTc activity could be eluted in 25 ml of isotonic saline solution. Radionuclidic, radiochemical and chemical analysis of the99mTc eluted proved to be proper for medical use. On the otherhand, thermal neutron irradiation of inactive stannic molybdate precipitates are not a suitable source for pure99mTc column-eluates.

A comparative study has been carried out on the effect of Sn(II) tartrate and Sn(II)Cl2on the labelling efficiency and tissue distribution of99mTc-human serum albumin. The effect of reductant content, reaction time (incubation time), albumin content, pH, and ascorbic acid on the efficiency of labelling and the tissue distribution of the labelled albumin has been investigated. The percent labelling was determined by paper and thin layer radiochromatography. Ascorbic acid shows no effect on either labelling efficiency or tissue distribution of99mTc-HSA prepared by Sn(II) tartrate or Sn(II)Cl2.

New technetium(V) OXO complexes of salicylidene-O-aminophenol and salicylidene-2-aminopyrididine Schiff's base ligands have been synthesized. C-peptide, as a marker for pancreatic beta cells function, and somatostatin (SS) in plasma of obese males (n = 15) and a corresponding normal-weight control subjects (n = 10) are studied in this work. Fasting plasma SS and serum C-peptide are significantly higher in obese vs lean group, this can be explained by hypertrophy of both D- and B-cells of the pancreatic islets reported by other investigators. Post-prandial plasma SS in insignificantly increased in obese vs the control group wheres the increase in C-peptide levels is significant suggesting unequal response of B- and D-cells to meal in the obese group. We concluded that circulating SS may play important role in development of obesity. Hyperinsulinaemia, documented in obesity may be due to hypersecretion of insulin (marked by rise of serum C-peptide in this work), and this may contribute to increased somatomedin-C in obesity.

For the sorption of106Ru vapours, natural clinoptilolite was employed mixed with tuff as well as synthetic molecular sieve of mordenite type. Several sorption characteristics of these materials were determined, such as sorption capacity up to 1% break-through, the distribution of sorbed ruthenium along the packing length, the break-through of106RuO4vapours released during the vitrification of model waste solutions and other characteristics of the sorbents. Further, the dependence was determined of the amount of106RuO4passed into the gaseous phase on vitrification time and on temperature.

The physical principle of the neutron autoradiography (NARG) method consists in the registration of the distribution number of neutrons, which are scattered isotropically on the nuclei of a tested element, where as in conventional autoradiography the isotropic radiation of the nuclei investigated is recorded. The experimental investigation of the main features of NARG for hydrogen was done by using a resonance filter and a resonance detector made of metallic indium. To demonstrate the possibilities of the proposed method it was compared with the traditional methods of autoradiography and neutron radiography. The method NARG for thin objects gives an object contrast about 20 times higher than in the case of neutron radiography. The minimum detectable content of hydrogen in an object is achieved 6 · 10−5g cm−2. The proposed method has a very high selectivity of hydrogen determination in any object. The high contrast and selectivity of the method enable one to investigate geological problems.
