The available experimental data on the vapor pressure isotope effect (VPIE) of BF3are interpreted within the framework of the statistical theory of isotope effects in condensed systems. It is shown that the temperature dependence of the VPIE of10BF3/11BF3observed by Rayleigh distillation experiments cannot be rationalized at all, while the curie obtained by vapor pressure difference measurements seems to be too steep below the boiling point.

The concept of the elementary cell with isotope reactions has been used for the deduction of the equations giving the relationship between the equilibrium isotopic composition in both solution and resin phases as a function of a few parameters, experimentally controlable. In contrast with the previous works, in this deduction the tendency of the system to the isotopic equipartition with isotope effect has been considered in order to use the formula peculiar to the isotope dilution method. The equations have been expressed in a form suitable for computer calculation of the isotopic abundance variation during chemical and ion exchange isotope separation.

This is the report on a study on the measurement of RaD and RaF contents in tooth in order to estimate the levels of these isotopes in bone. The RaD concentration was determined on the basis of RaF measurements by the silver plating method. The bone and teeth samples were obtained from autopsy of 18 unexposed children (9 boys and 9 girls), aged 0 — 13 years, residents of Budapest. Regression analysis was carried out to estimate the skeletal RaD and RaF contents from tooth measurements. The calculations showed that the estimation of skeletal RaD contents from tooth measurements is not feasible because of large error margins, in contrast to RaF contents which can be estimated within approximately ±50% error margin for the 0.9 confidence interval. According to our results, the total skeletal RaD and RaF concentration in the age interval from 1 to 13 years showed an increase by approximately one factor of ten; in case of RaD – from 17 to 161 pCi and in case of RaF – from 15 – 163 pCi.

Um den Informationsgehalt von Lungenszintigrammen ohne weitere Belastung für den Patienten auszuschöpfen, wird mittels zweier Meβköpfe auch der Initialflow über den Lungen aufgezeichnet. Vor allem scheint sich die Messung der Anreicherungszeit über den peripheren Lungenanteilen als aufschluβreich zu erweisen. Die Schwere der Krankheitsbilder der Obstruktionssyndrome kann leichter abgeschätzt werden. Über lokalisierten Prozessen, wie Lungencarcinomen, war die Anreicherungszeit verlängert. Die Anreicherungszeit erwies sich bei Prozessen, die die Lungen beiderseits gleich betreffen, als diagnostisch wertvoll, da die Lungenszintigramme infolge des Fehlens der Seitendifferenz weniger differenziert werden können.

Bei der Röntgenemissionsanalyse mit Ionen besitzt die Topographie der Probe einen entscheidenden Einfluβ auf die Röntgenausbeute. Es wird ein Modell beschrieben, das es gestattet, den Topographieeinfluβ mathematisch zu erfassen. Mit diesem Modell werden die Fehler abgeschätzt, die bei der quantitativen Analyse rauher Proben zusälzlich auftreten können. Daraus werden Forderungen an die Oberflächengüte der Proben abgeleitet.

Es wird ein für verschiedene Aufgaben der Kernstrahlungsspektrometrie einsetzbares Verfahren zur Impulshöhenstabilisierung beschriben, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daβ die Regelgröβe aus Sprüngen konstanter Schrittweite besteht, die durch den Vergleich der Zāhlraten in zweit Referenzkanälen nur hinsichtlich ihrer Richtung beeinfluβt warden. Zur Optimerung der Schrittweite kann ein Rechenprogramm, dessen grundsätzlicher Aufbau ebenfalls beschrieben wird, herangezogen werden. Die Anwendung dieses Verfahrens gestattet es u. a., die durch die Zählstatistik verursachte Linienverbreiterung im Vergleich zu anderen Verfahren wesentlich zu verringern.
