On the basic of an existing 3-pool-kompartment-model of the N-turnover for lading cows was make a method to determine the N-turnover applicable also for non lacting ruminants. This is possible through take the measurement of15N-frequency in the NPN-pool only and use mathematical methods. Knowledge of15N-frequency in the amino acid pool is not necessary.

Two lactating Merino ewes with a rumen fistula were housed in metabolic boxes for N-balancc and fed a diet be composed of oats, sugar beet pulp and hay. After adaptation on dietary ammonium sulfate suplementation each of the ewe daily received 21 g15N-ammonium sulfate during tlie 10-d full time period. The daily intake of dry matter was 1.9 or 1.5 kg, of energy unit for cattle 1074 or 864 and of crude protein 266 or 187 g by ewe 1 or 2 respectively. The utilization of NPN was 55 or 59 per cent for synthesis of whole protein, 11 or 4 per cent for synthesis of milk protein and 22 or 43 per cent for N-retention. The utilization of true protein from feedstuffs was 62 or 71 per cent for synthesis of whole protein, 12 or 5 per cent for synthesis of milk protein and 25 or 51 per cent for N-retention by ewe 1 or 2 respectively.

The preparation of immobilized enzyme membranes was studied by radiation cast-polymerization at low temperatures using cellulase enzyme, hydrophilic and hydrophobic monomers. The enzyme activity of the membranes was affected by monomer concentration, membrane thickness, and hydrophilicity of monomer, in which the membranes with 100 μm thickness from high monomer concentration (80%) had high enzyme activity, which was similar to that of the membranes with 1.0 mm thickness from low monomer concentration (20%).

The aim of the study was to find a suitable method for an objective assessment of67Ga-citrate accumulation in lungs. Ten different indexes were studied using the stepwise discrimination analysis. The index I 14avethat represents an average value from anterior and posterior views of the region of interest for the whole lungs divided by the value from a region of interest obtained analogically for a supraclavicular region. The maximal physiological value of I 14avewas estimated to be 2.34. Sensitivity of the method is 77.5%, specificity is 100%.

Investigations were carried out on 140 Wistar rats, five male in each group. The animals received intragastrically single doses of 1, 6 and 12 mg HgCl2/kg body weight. One hour after intoxication the rats were given in the same manner dose of Na125I/0.2 cm3, 95 kBq. I-125 activity of organs at 3, 6 h and 1, 2, 4, and 14 days after radioiodine administration indicated that body distribution of I-125 was significantly altered by the administration of mercury. The most dramatic changes were observed in the thyroid. These investigations showed that mercury may exert its toxic action through changes induced in the distribution of iodine in the organism.

A method is presented of a random control of the radionuclide purity of deliveries of99mTc sodium pertechnate pro inj. from the extraction generator of the Institute of Nuclear Research in Řež. Results are shown of measuring values of activities (in percentage) of the contaminants99Mo,131I,69Co and188Re from 1983 to 1986 and after adjusting the technology of the production in 1987. Values of the activity in percentage of the contaminants of deliveries of99mTc solutions from the generator99Mo-99mTc of the Institute of Nuclear Research with99Mo separated from fission products at the Institute of Nuclear Research in Řež and that separated from fission products in the Zentralinstitut für Kernforschung — Dresden are compared with values of the activity (in percentage) of contaminants of eluates from radionuclide clution generators99Mo-99mTc AMERTEC II. Elution generators were made in the Zentralinstitut für Kernforschung — Dresden and elution generator MTc-G-3 from the Isotope Production and Reactor Centre Swierk — Poland.

The characteristics of an air-equivalent ionization chamber used for routine exposure measurements were investigated. The air-equivalent material used was a mixture of 91% polycarbonate [(C16H14O3)n] and 9% E-glass (54% SiO2; 1% Fe2O3; 1% Na2O2+ K2O2; 1% TiO2; 15% CaO; 8% B2O3). This is equivalent to a mixture of commercial thermoplastics consisting of 55% Makrolon-3100 natural and 45% Makrolon-8020 natural (Bayer). The parts of this chamber have been injection moulded and the chamber had volume of 1l and wall thickness of 2 mm. The inner surfaces of the chamber were coated with a conductive air-equivalent layer. The response of the chamber was slightly gamma-energy dependent in the 0.04 MeV to 1.25 MeV energy range.

In the present study the alpha particle response which is characteristic of cellulose nitrate detectors CN85 was investigated The track diameter as a function of alpha energy was examined. With regard to the spectroscopy of alpha from track radii it was stated that the discrimination of lower alpha energies shows better results than the high energies for the present etching condition.

Chromatographic extraction of uranium from nitrate medium using di-2-ethythexylphosphoric acid (HDEHP) loaded on XAD-4 (macroporous styrene divinylbenzene) is investigated. Parameters affecting column performance including flow rate, HDEHP concentration and column dimensions are studied in terms of height equivalent to theoretical plate and break-through capacity. The experimental results are analysed based on Van Deemter equation. The different constants representing the longitudinal diffusion of the solute in the mobile phase, packing irregularities of the column and rate of transfer of solute between the stationary and aqueous phases are evaluated and discussed. Optimum conditions for uranium removal from comparable simulated high active waste nitrate solution are studied.

A pseudo-random pulser is presented suitable for applications in many fields of radiometric precision spectrometry. It is based on a maximum-length feedback shift register generator. The rules for structure and phase distance of the sequences to be connected for the output pulse initiation are following from the concept of the m · n-feedback shift register generator. By this means optimum statistical properties are guaranteed. They are illustrated by comparison of some measured parameters with those expected by reason of theoretical investigations or derived from a measured natural detector signal, respectively.
