At first a short introduction to Ludwig Boltzmann's life (1844–1906) and work is given. Some theoretical results of his work (H-theorem, classical Boltzmann statistics, Boltzmann's kinetic equation) are treated in some detail. His experimental work is briefly discussed. In addition Boltzmann's philosophical work is characterized. Finally the influence of Boltzmann's ideas on our time is investigated.

In einem Versuch mit wachsenden Ratten werden die Resorption, die Retention und die intermediäre Verteilung des15N nach zehntägiger Verabfolgung von vier verschiedenen15N-Tracern: DL-(15N)-Methionin, L-(15N)-Lysin, (15N)-Glycin und (15NH4)2SO4untersucht und die Übertragungsprozesse der markierten Aminogruppe (Transaminierung, Desaminierung und Aminierung sowie andere chemische Umwandlungen zwischen den Aminosäuren) bestimmt. Die Ergebnisse werden diskutiert und daraus Schluβfolgerungen für die Eignung der Substanzen zur Markierung von Organismen bzw. als Tracer für die Bestimmung von Parametern des Protein- und Aminosäurenstoffwechsels abgeleitet.

A method for determination of chloride ions adsorbed on the surface of stainless steel from aqueous solutions of NaCl at concentrations down to 0,8 ppm using the radionuclide36Cl is described. The local distribution of the chloride ions on the surface is determined by autoradiographic imaging. The experiments are performed in a temperature range about 260 °C in an autoclave.

摘要:

The labelling of diiodofluorescein with131I using the ultraviolet waves as an excitation energy has been tried. Different normal alcohols have been used as solvents. The different parameters affecting the labelling yield such as, presence of water in different proportions, pH of the medium and presence of different concentrations of carrier, have been studied. Also, the effective lines of the Hg lamp have been elucidated. The labelling mechanism in different conditions has been explained. The study revealed that higher yields were obtained when using a mixture of ethanol and water as solvent at pH ∼ 5.

As is shown by the first application of this principle to the preparation of14C-methylcyclopentane heterogeneously catalyzed hydrocarbon converting reactions may be used for the highly efficient production of14C-hydrocarbons using the microcatalytically pulsed mode of operation with product recycling in connection with the now available highly active and selective catalysts.

Circulating immune complexes (CIC) were detected by a solid-phase Clq-binding radioassay in 13.7% of 73 insulin-dependent diabetics (IDD) as compared to 8.6% of 35 nog-insulin dependent diabetics (NIDD) and 8.3% of 24 control subjects. Islet cell antibodies (ICAb) were detected by the indirect immunofluorescent method in 31.5% of 73 IDD as compared to 8.6% of 35 NIDD and 0% of 24 control subjects. A significant correlation between the incidence of CIC and the incidence of ICAb in IDD was detected and this is in support to the concept that islet cell antibodies are involved in the formation of CIC. The possible role of immuno-pathological mechanism that might involved of IDD is discussed on the base of the significant correlation detected between CIC and ICAb on one hand, and positive diabetic family history, high levels of fasting blood sugar and low levels of fasting insulin level, on the other hand, in Saudi IDD.

The selective separation of Cu, Zn and Mn from various liquid secondary raw materials has been studied by the use of radionuclides. The experimental equipment allowed the establishment of equilibrium in a mixer-settler to be continuously followed. The suitability of various industrial extractants such as LIX 64 N, Acorga P-17, Kelex 100, D 2 EHPA for the extraction of those non-ferrous metals from spent zinc electrolytes and from solutions obtained by leaching Cu/Zn scrap has been determined on the basis of a new selectivity criterion. Good results have been achieved by selecting the optimum extraction and reextraction conditions.
