摘要:

Reduction process of Cu2O in an electric furnace has been investigated by means of radioisotope technique. Gu-64 in various chemical forms was used as a tracer. Radiometric measurements of samples and complementary chemical quantitative analyses allowed to determine degree of reduction and decoppering degree at all stages of reduction process. Also material balance has been drawn up and distribution of copper among the products determined. On the grounds of the data obtained the possible mechanism of the decoppering process and its kinetic parameters have been discussed.

The formation of the volume electric charge in dielectrics containing radioactive β-isotope has been theoretically proposed. A method of calculating the value of the charge for both uniform and nonuniform distribution of the isotope in the volume is described. The method of the “acoustic sounding” has been used for the experimental study of charge distribution in the sample of crystalline Y3Al5O12(90Y) and borosilicate glass (90Sr +90Y). The results obtained are in good accord with the theoretical evaluations. A conclusion has been drawn to the effect that the measurement of volume charge distribution can be used to study the absorption of β-radiation in a substance and spatial distribution of β-isotope in the material.

In the present paper it has been demonstrated that an error due to the variations of the chemical composition can be reduced by energy selection of the incident and backscattered β-radiation. The physical and practical aspects of this has been discussed.

In the present work, an appliance for the measurement of the radiothermoluminescence of thin polymer layers irradiated at a temperature T = 80 K is described. In this paper some problems are considered, related to the application of direct gamma-spectrometry in natural waters: absolute sensitivity calibration of the detector system and its theoretical evaluation by means of a spherical model of the detector; possibility for a mathematical stabilization of the experimental calibration using numerical filtering methods; evaluation of the sensitivity of the method is also performed. Several spectra are presented of the gamma-field in some natural basins in Bulgaria.

The use of radioactive isotopes in the clarifaction of the metabolism of some elements play an important role in the life cycle. A systematic study is presented on the extraction of ionic iron from urine. As radioactive isotopes,59Fe was used to follow the extraction of the ionic forms in various extraction systems. For this study we used tributyl phosphate (TBP) as solvent. Such studies are useful to develop procedures for the separation and analysis of these elements such as for example in the study of the treatment of anaemia by the administration of their compounds in the human body.
