Efforts to place separation of isotopes, especially by chromatography or column operation, on a theoretical basis are reviewed. Emphasis is placed on fundamental principles and concepts rather than on details of experimental investigations. Theoretical studies fall into two main lines of approach. The first line of approach is characterized by the application of the ion-exchange or extraction theory to isotope separation; historically this approach as a consequence of the fact that the ion-exchange chromatography was applied to practically the isotope separation of elements. The second line of approach is represented by the chemical exchange method which has hitherto been used in two-phase separation. This approach is applied to interprete the experimental results which were obtained on the uranium isotope separation by the reverse frontal technique and on the lithium isotope separation by the band-elution technique. The relation between the two lines of approach is systematized.

Am Beispiel von Mischungen aus Cumol und Cumol-[α-D] (97 Atom-% D) wurde die Abhāngigkeit verschiedener Oxydationscharakteristika vom D-Gehalt bestimmt. Die Geschwindigkeit der Gesamtreaktion und der Kettenfortpflanzungsreaktion sowie die Länge der Induktionsperiode zeigen keine lineare Abhängigkeit vom D-Gehalt. Dieses Ergebnis wird aus der Wechselwirkung mehrerer Isotopieeffekte im Reaktionsmechanismus erklärt.

Based on viscosity measurements of seven electrolyte soultions (KCl, K Br, KI, LiCl, Na2CO3, Li2SO4, and MnSO4) in heavy water and the viscosity data of four electrolyte solutions (KCl, KBr, Kl, and Na2CO3) in ordinary water the activation energies of viscosity have been determined from the Pantchenkov equation. The dtermination were made at 25°, 35°, 45°, 60°, 75°, and 90°, at various concentrations up to near saturation. The activation energies of viscosity for pure heavy and ordinary water have been determined, too. The results allowed conclusions on the various influences of the investigated salts on the structure of heavy and ordinary water solutions.

摘要:

The paper describes a method of de-excitation times measurement of scintillators by a cathode-ray oscillograph. By approximation of the filter network of the oscillograph amplifier with one or more integrating constants, the corresponding equations have been obtained. Showing them graphically, there is a possibility for a fast determination of the de-excitation time of the examined substances. Moreover, there is a possibility for the measurement of ampitude yield of the slow de-excitation component with regard to the fast one by a direct analysis of the recorded oscillogram.

The radioisotope thickness gauge developed at the “Boris Kidric” Institute of Nuclear Sciences- Vinča is applied in industrial plants as a sensing device of the thickness regulation system. The paper gives an analysis of transfer functions of the thickness gauge IMD-4 modified to fit the system for copper strips cold rolling process control in the thickness range of 0.1…3 mm.
