摘要:
A vibrational analysis of liquid water is reported, assuming a completely hydrogen-bonded network with continuously varying strengths of the hydrogen bonds. Frequency distribution calculations are made for intramolecular stretching and bending modes and for the intermolecular frequency region. The calculated distributions are compared with the experimental spectroscopic ones. As another test vapor pressure isotope effects are calculated from the theoretical distributions for some isotopic water molecules. Results are compared with ones of other authors obtained from a mixture model.

摘要:
'The secular variation in the tritium content of precipitation, particularly in the polar regions, is investigated by mathematical treatment of a compartment model of exchangeable atmospheric reservoirs. Exchange coefficients are calculated to be 0.70 per year and 0 35 per year for interstratospheric exchange and exchange between stratosphere and troposhpere, respectively. The stratospheric half-live of bomb-produced tritium amounts to 20 months. A special Antarctic continental effect is discussed.

摘要:
Deaerated suspensions of arsenic in trichlorotrifluoroethane were irradiated in a60Co radiation facility. After treating the irradiated samples with sodium hydroxide solution the yields of chloride and fluoride were determined. By gaschromaloyruphy the yield of C4F6Cl4was measured quantitatively. The yields of chloride and fluoride proved to be linear functions of the applied radiation dose. The dependence of the chloride, fluoride and C4F6Cl4yields from the amount of arsenic added to a fixed quantity of C2F3Cl3was studied. The experimental results were interpreted by a radical reaction mechanism.

The γ-radiolysis of p-hydroquinone (H2Q) in deaerated solutions with different solutes is reported. At high pH there is no change in the system. When pH is lowered, H2Q is consumed and G(-H2Q) is pH and H2Q dependent. Small yields of quinone (Q) were observed but G(Q) ∼ 10% of H2Q disappeared. G(−H2Q) is the same in different acids while G(Q) and G(H2O2) depend on the acid used. Competition studies were employed to evaluate the rate coefficient for the reaction of H with H2Q. The values obtained support the reaction mechanism proposed. When N2O is added, Q and 2-hydroxybenzoquinone (2-Q-OH) are produced, and their yields are pH dependent. A reaction mechanism is proposed to explain the experimental observations.

摘要:
Biologically active 4-text-butyl-1-methyl-3,3,4,5,5-pentadeuterocyclohexane-1c,2c-diol and cis-2-phenyltetrahydropyran-5-ol have been prepared in the solid state, recrystallized and identified. Extensive measurements have been carried out on these materials comprising infrared; electronic absorption spectra before, and after exposure to an absorbed energetic, γ-ray dose (107rd). These materials were chosen as they have intramolecular hydrogen bonding of variant origin. The relative strength of hydrogen bonding and magnitude of γ-radiation damage were evaluated in each case. Results obtained were in conformity, explained, assigned and discussed in details in relation with the nature and origin of hydrogen bonding in each case.

摘要:
Measurements of positron annihilation (Doppler broadening, lifetime) of different silica glasses led to statements about the degree of order of such glasses. Silica glass molten from quartz crystals showed a higher degree of order than synthetic silica glasses synthesized from SiCl4; the degree of order of silica glasses increases at heat treatments above 900 °C and is influenced by the manufacturing technology. The degree of order is considered in connection with the pre-order conception.

摘要:
Experimental measurements have been carried out to study the effect of cadmium on the distribution and attenuation of reactor thermal neutrons emitted from a reactor core and the new thermal neutrons produced in a heterogeneous shield of water, iron, iron + B4C and ordinary concrete. Measurements were performed using a reactor beam of neutrons filtered with cadmium emitted from one of the horizontal channels of ET-RR-1. It was found that the presence of cadmium sheet at channel exit causes a marked decrease in the thickness of the shield required to attenuate the thermal neutron flux by a certain factor.
