A short survey on the radioisotope applications in the four European countries is given. This survey is based on the detailed report prepared by the group of 15 experts during their 70 day study tour organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, at the end of 1966. The purpose of the tour was the acquaintance with the application of radioisotopes and radiation in industry and research.Organization of industrial radioisotope work and basic forms of radioisotope applications are described.

Der Einsatz des im Vergeich zur Ionisationskammer gegenüber γ-Strahlung um Gröβenordnungen empfindlicheren Szintillationszählers in Dichtemeβgeräten scheitert an dem inkonstanten Verhalten dieses Detektors. Ebenso stört bei industriellen Anwendungen derartiger Meβgeräte die exponentielle Abnahme der Strahlungsintensität der γ-Strahlungsquelly über der Zeit, so daβ besondere Vorkehrungen zu deren Ausgleich vorgesehen werden müssen.

Es wird über eine spezifische Abtrennung des Urans aus Mischungen radioaktiver Spaltprodukte mittels Dünnschichtchromatographie berichtet. Die bei kurz bestrahlten Uranproben am Uranfleck gefundene Radioaktivität kann auf Grund γ-spektrometrischer Messungen dem239Np zugeordnet werden.

Chromatographic separation of oleic acid-I131and triolein-I131from free iodide has been studied in a number of solvents on ordinary chromatographic paper as well as paper impregnated with various heavy metals. The latter help in firmly fixing the iodide at the point of spotting. Copper and lead oleates which can form on the impregnated papers move along with oleic acid. Bismuth, mercuric, palladium, and silver oleates are not formed on the impregnated papers.

A method of determining the content of N15in KNO3using an infrared spectrophotometer is described. A v2band ofion dissoved in potassium bromide was used for the measurement. The precision of measurement was 0.6 percentage units at the 95 per cent probability level.

O-Methylester groups constitute a part in a variety of well-known organophosphorus insecticides. Such compounds, e.g. Dipterex and Rogor [1], were found to undergoin vivo[2–4] as well asin vitro[5]P—OCH3cleavage, thus liberating methanol. The degradation of methanol in mammals has been extensively studied [6, 7] and more recently its fate in the cotton leaf worm has been investigated [8].

Im Gegensatz zur Gammagraphie—der Durchstrahlungsprüfung mit γ-Strahlung, die das Durchstrahlungsergebnis in Form eines Bildes (Film, Leuchtschirm, Bildverstärker u. ä.) festhält — wird unter Gammametrie eine Durchstrahlungsprüfung verstanden, bei der die Verteilung der Strahlungsintensität hinter dem Prüfobjekt mit Hilfe geeigneter Detektoren (Ionisationskammern, Zählrohr, Szintillationskristalle u. a.) gemessen wird. Im Gießereibetrieb ist bisher nur die Gammagraphie (γ-Defektoskopie) in großerem Umfang verbreitet, was durch die relativ einfache Handhabung des Verfahrens, die recht anschauliche Form der Prüfergebnisse, den geringen gerätetechnischen Aufwand usw. bedingt sein dürfte. Auch reicht das Verfahren für die meisten Prüfaufgaben aus. Gegebenenfalls kann durch die zusätzliche Anwendung von Ultraschallverfahren eine noch bessere Kontrolle der Ergebnisse erreicht werden.
