摘要:
This paper reviews some of the uses of ion exchange processes by the nuclear industry for the period April 1978 to April 1983. The topics dealt with are: thorium, protactinium, uranium, neptunium, plutonium, americium, cesium and actinide-lanthanide separations; the higher actinides - Cm, Bk, Cf, Es and Fm; fission products; ion exchange in the geological disposal of radioactive waste. Consideration is given to safety in the use of ion exchangers and in safe methods of disposal of such materials. Full scale and pilot plant process descriptions are included as well as summaries of laboratory studies.

摘要:
The relative importance of interfacial diffusion and chemical reactions in determining the overall kinetics of liquid-liquid extraction of metal cations is discussed. The different criteria which can be used to identify if the rate of extraction is controlled by diffusion, interfacial chemical reactions or homogeneous chemical reactions are briefly reviewed. A chemical system where interfacial and aqueous phase chemical reactions are simultaneously controlling the rate of metal extraction is described.

The extraction of zinc(II), lead(II) and gallium(III) from sodium hydroxide solutions by 7-(5,5,7,7-tetramethyl-l-octen-3-yl)-8-hydroxyquinoline (KELEX 100, HQ) in kerosene has been carried out under different conditions. As a result, it is seen that these metals are extracted effectively from alkaline solutions by KELEX 100, according to the following equilibria:

摘要:
The extraction behaviour of berkelium (IV) from inorganic acid solutions using neutral organophosphorus compounds and high molecular weight amines was studied. Distribution coefficients as a function of the nature and concentration of acid, extractant, organic solvent and oxidant were examined. The stoichiometry of Bk(IV) extraction has been studied and the composition of the extracted species have been determined. The data obtained allowed us to work out the extraction methods of separation and purification of berkelium from TPE, rare earths and several fission products using neutral organophosphorus compounds and high molecular weight amines.

摘要:
The distribution of indium(III) from thiocyanate solutions by alley 1 and aryl sulphoxides, TOPO, TTA and their mixtures in benzene has been studied. The species extracted were found to be In(SCN),.3S (where S=DPSO, DOSO, DPhSO or TOPO) and In (TTA)3. The Influence of the metal concentration, temperature and the diluent on the extraction of indium have been investigated. The stability constants for thiocyanate and chloride complexes of the metal are determined.

摘要:
Results are reported from a hot test of a TALSPEAK type process for separation of higher actinides (Am, Cm) from lanthanides. Actinides and lanthanides are extracted by 1 M HDEHP and separated by selective strip of the actinides, using a mixture of DTPA and lactic acid (reversed TALSPEAK process). In order to minimize the generation of secondary waste, a procedure using recirculating DTPA-Lactic acid solution has been developed. A separation factor between Am and Eu of 132 was achieved. In regard to separations of Am and Cm from commercial HLLW, this corresponds to 1.5 % of the lanthanide group remaining with the actlnldes. The loss of Am was about 0.2 %.
