摘要:

This article presents the results of an evaluative study of an employee assistance program sponsored by the Russell Corporation, an apparel manufacturing firm. Its results suggest that the program is beneficial in terms of both productivity enhancement and humanitarianism.

Those responsible for providing services to the newly unemployed face the need to make choices relative to the allocation of scarce resources. Making these choices requires data on the perceived needs of those to be served. A sample of newly umemployed workers responded to a questionnaire indicating their needs for information and community services.

Experience, as well as the literature, shows that persons labeled as criminal offenders are at a disadvantage when seeking employment. In an effort to learn more about the nature and severity of this bias, a research study was conducted. Results revealed a clear and systematic bias against offenders in general, regardless of relative qualifications.
