This article is an analysis of general journal and article characteristics, content, and authorship for volumes 1 through 15 of theJournal of Employment Counseling, covering the years 1964 through 1978. It attempts to determine to what extent and in what ways the membership of the National Employment Counselors Association (NECA) is served by theJournal. The average length of the journal and its articles are noted as well as the number of authors and references per article. Each article is reviewed for content classification, authorship, and the author's institutional affiliation. The basic facts and overall publication trends are identified and discussed. It is noted that only a small proportion of published articles concerned Employment Service counseling techniques. This article is a self‐help guide that outlines for women job‐seekers clues to recognizing sexist job interviews and interviewers. It provides suggestions to women readers and their vocational counselors for overcoming sexist tactics and the job discrimination that may result. The sexist clues discussed in the article are common ones found in the standard personnel practices of many employers. Studying the points outlined will make women job‐seekers more aware of their rights as workers and will equip them to compete on their job‐related qualifications rather than personal ones. 摘要:
The Career Awareness Program for High School Dropouts was an experimentally funded project to determine the effect of a concentrated vocational assessment and vocational counseling program on the employability of high school dropouts. Various aspects of CAP included individual and group counseling, vocational‐educational assessment and diagnosis, job attitude training, vocational guidance, and career exploration. The results of a follow‐up survey showed that approximately 60% of the dropouts were still employed six months after completion of the program. This article discusses some of the unique career behavior characteristics of Blacks as they relate to extant career development theories and social factors. Traditional theories assume that the individual has the opportunity to make realistic career choices and to gain occupational entry without consideration of the many situational factors involved. Dillard discusses situational factors as uniquely related to career choice behavior of Blacks (socioeconomic background, work ethic, career values, aspirations, expectations).

The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes of prospective employers toward hiring ex‐offenders based on the nature of the crime committed. Thirty‐nine male and 30 female students in a personnel management class at a major Midwestern university were surveyed regarding their attitudes toward hiring persons convicted for the following crimes: kidnapping, armed robbery, homicide, assault and battery (nonsexual), automobile theft, rape, burglary, sale of hard narcotics, forgery, and child molesting. This article deals with a study that assessed the effects of marathon group therapy on the attitudes of the participants in a 16‐hour‐long marathon group. The participants were all former drug users who were transferred from prison to a residential drug treatment center. The volunteer residents, who were randomly divided into control and experimental groups, completed posttests that included the following semantic differential concepts: kindness, reality, the future, anger, guilt, my real self, drug treatment programs, counselors, counseling, and group counseling. Evaluative (E) and Potency (P) scales were obtained for each concept.
