AbstractRiccia incrassataBrotero (1804) is recognized as being identical toOxymitra paleaceaBisch. ex Lindenb. (1829). The new combinationO. incrassata(Brotero) Sergio&Sim-Sim is proposed. A holotype is not available and a neotype and isoneotypes have been chosen from a Portuguese collection named by Welwitsch.

AbstractLejeunea obtusataGott. is described and recorded from Madagascar, Mauritius, Tanzania, Ghana, Sierra Leone and probably Uganda.L. cantabrigiensisE.W. Jones sp. nov. is described from Cameroon Mountain.L. obtusistipula(Steph.) E.W. Jones, comb. nov.(Cheilolejeunea obtusistipulaSteph.) is described from Sierra Leone. Taxonomic notes on allied species, includingL. confusaE.W. Jones, are included.

AbstractIsoenzymatic and morphological data of four populations from two bogs in southern Sweden are presented. From each bog one population ofSphagnum rubellumwas sampled from the mire expanse and one population ofS. capillifoliumfrom the mire margin. Data from isoenzyme-electrophoresis show that there is agenetic difference corresponding to the two morphological taxa. It is also indicated that they may hybridize. The fact that the taxa seem to be better separated at the continental Aggarps Mosse than at the suboceanic Traneröds Mosse would suggest that hybridization occurs more often in coastal than in inland climates.

AbstractTwo new species,Fissidens cucullatusandF. inaequiretis, are described and illustrated.F. cucullatusis characterized by very obtuse leaves often cucullate at the apex, with highly mamillose, smooth, unipapillose orbipapillose cells and marginal cells of the vaginant laminae often longer than wide. A comparison is made withF. perobtususDix..F. inaequiretishas lax linear leaves with a serrate margin, large thin-walled cells except for marginal band, and an. intramarginal border in lower part of vaginant lamina. It appears to be closest toF. lagunensis(Bartr.) Bartr..F. subkurandaeBartr. is reduced to a synonym ofF. holstiiBroth.
