摘要:
The authors consider sexual reproduction in Mediterranean Angiosperms and Gymnosperms and its connections with some environmental factors. Firstly it is examined the monthly distribution of the blooming periods: out of the 666 considered Angiosperm species, most of which remain in bloom over several months, 518 bloom during May and 495 during April, whilst less than 100 species bloom from September through February. It is then considered the reproductive cycle—from blooming to seed dispersal—which is very short in most of the plants. However the authors examine in detail also the cycles of species commonly considered representative for the Mediterranean area (Pinus halepensisMill.,P. pineaL., P.pinasterAiton,Quercus macrolepisKotschy,Q. suberL., Q.cocciferaL. andArbutus unedoL.), but in which the reproductive cycles last one year or more. It is also described a short cycle, the cycle ofCytinus hypocistisL. with its peculiar environmental devices.

摘要:
Serological tests among more than 70 species ofGenisteaeand almost 30 species of other tribes ofFabaceaeallowed to verify several hypotheses on the origin and diversification of theGenisteae. The results obtained indicate thatGenisteaesensu Polhill are a natural group, which is phyletically related toThermopsideaeand toSophoreae. The remaining of primitiveGenisteaeis represented by such genera asLaburnum, Cytisophyllum, Hesperolaburnum, Podocytisus, Petteria. The main lines of diversification of the tribe are:Cytisus(incl.Chamaecytisus, Sarothamnus, Corothamnus)—Lembotropis-Calicotome, andGenista(incl.Teline, Chamaespartium)—Ulex. Adenocarpus, Argyrolonium, andLupinusare part of this tribe, but belong to independent lines of diversification. A number of xeromorphic genera of the mediterranean area (Spartium; Ecbinospartum; Cytisanthus-Retama) are serologically related to the «primitive» genera more than to other groups.

摘要:
The central bank on the Italian flora and vegetation has been used to obtain information on the phytogeography of Sicily. The chorological spectrum of the Sicilian flora and the percentages of each phytogeographical category in 8 main environment-types have been analyzed by multivariate methods. The correlations between species with similar distribution patterns and environments are high. Species with similar ranges tend to have the same ecological behaviour. One of the main factors to which they respond is water availability in the soils.

摘要:
As part of a biosystematic revision scheme involving certain groups of Italian monocotyledons the genusMuscariMiller was examined independetly from other genera close to it,LeopoldiaParl.,MuscarimiaKostel. andPseudomuscariGarbari & Greuter. It is represented in Italy by 7 species:Muscari botryoides(L.) Miller (2n= 36),M. kerneriMarchesetti (2n= 18),M. atlanticumBoiss. et Reuter (2n= 36, 45, 54, 63, 72),M. neglectumGuss. (2n= 36, 45, 54, 63),M. commutatumGuss. (2n= 18),M. lafarinae(Lojac.) Garbari (2n= 18) andM. parviflorumDesf. (2n= 36, 45). An investigation of infraspecific variability has enabled the identification of some southern Italian Apenninic populations such asM. atlanticumBoiss. et Reuter subsp.alpinum(Fiori) Garbari (2n= 36); a race from the Adriatic island of Pelagosa asM. neglectumGuss, subsp.speciosum(Marchesetti) Garbari; an entity distributed in the central and western Italian lowlands asM. botryoides(L.) Miller subsp.lelievrii(Boreau) Garbari (2n= 36). The various ploidy levels were then discussed as well the high adaptive capacity of certain entities from theM.sect.Muscariin comparision with the genomic stability of theM.sect.Concoloria, which is always found documented as diploid and which is not so adaptable.

摘要:
The most relevant problems in plant taxonomy and geography for which numerical taxonomy is used are briefly discussed. The attention is focused to the problems of geographic variation within species and clinal variations in respect to ecological factors. Examples of applications to morphological data ofEuphrasiaproved the existence of a clear geographical pattern of variation withinE. minimawhich shows a decrement of sharpness of the leaves teeth along an East-West gradient and along an elevation gradient. The pattern of distribution of Italian species ofEuphrasiain respect to three factors—light, elevation and soil drainage—reflects very well the ordination and the classification obtained by numerical methods based on morphological characters. A software for phytogeographic data is illustrated with an example of application to a floristic data bank of the Italian Karst region. It allows to cluster geographic units and to define the discriminating species at different hierarchical levels.

摘要:
The GenusOphrysL. is the richest in species of all European and Mediterranean Orchids. High genetic compatibility, hybridization, introgession and selection by pollinating insects have resulted in various evolutionary trends that can be similar in different areas. So a review of the old, merely morphological, taxonomical arrangement is necessary; thus a synthesis of modern theories on the polytopic origin of species, microevolution in act, parallel evolution with pollinating insects induces us to evaluate differences and affinities from a new point of view, also in relation to relevant recent chorological acquirements.
