ABSTRACTThe clinical signs and neuropathology are described of five animals which survived cardiac arrest for various periods of time. The pathogenesis and widespread distribution of the lesions in the brain indicate the necessity of initiating treatment as soon as possible. Methods of treatment are discussed.Résumé.Description du tableau clinique et des lésions neurologiques de cinq animaux ayant survécu un temps variable à un arrêt du cœur. ABSTRACTAll the tumours removed surgically from dogs and cats in a private practice over a period of 6 years were examined histologically. There were eight tumours of cats and 231 tumours of dogs. Of the tumours of the dog, 150 were of the skin, fifty‐nine were from the mammary gland, nine were from the mouth, nine from the testes and four were from the vagina. Details of the type of tumour, the breed, age and sex of the animals are given. The subsequent history of many of the animals with malignant tumours was known and the details are given. These results are briefly discussed.Résumé.Les auteurs ont effectué un examen histologique de toutes les tumeurs des chats et des chiens enlevées chirurgicalement dans l'espace de 6 ans en clientèle privée. Il s'agissait de 8 tumeurs de chats et de 231 tumeurs canines; parmi ces dernières, il y avait 150 atteintes cutanées, 59 tumeurs mammaires, 9 buccales, 9 testiculaires et 4 tumeurs vaginales. Les auteurs décrivent les types des tumeurs et donnent des indications sur les races, l'âge et le sexe des animaux, ainsi que sur l'évolution post‐opératoire. Discussion des résultats obtenus.Zusammenfassung.Alle Turnoren, die innerhalb eines Zeitraums von 6 Jahren in einer Privatpraxis chirurgisch entfernt wurden, wurden histologisch untersucht. Es handelte sich urn 8 Tumoren von Katzen und 231 Tumoren von Hunden. Die Tumoren der Hunde waren 150 Hauttumoren, 59 Geschwülste der Milchdrüse, 9 Maulturnoren, 9 Hodenturnoren und 4 Vaginalgeschwülste. Einzelheiten des Tumortyps und der Rasse, des Alters und des Geschlechts der Tiere werden angegeben. ABSTRACTThe authors record their experiences of the surgical treatment of twenty‐one unilateral and thirteen bilateral cases of osteochondritis dissecans of the humerus of the dog. The operative technique and the clinical pathology of the condition are described. In nearly all cases there was complete restoration of limb function within 3 months of surgery; this is a much better result than that obtained in a previous series treated conservatively. Nineteen of the affected dogs had signs of hip dysplasia.Résumé.Les auteurs rapportent leurs expériences concernant le traitemerit chirurgical de 21 cas unilatéraux et de 13 cas bilatéraux d'ostéochondrite dissécante de l'humérus du chien. On décrit les techniques opératoires et les données de l'examen clinique. Dans presque tous les cas, on a obtenu une restauration presque complète de la fonction du membre dans les 3 mois qui ont suivi l'opération, ce qui représente un résultat nettement supérieur à celui obtenu dans des séries précédentes traitées par un mode conservateur. Dix‐neuf des chiens atteints ont présenté des signes de dysplasie de la hanche.Zusammenfassung.Die Autoren geben ihre Erfahrungen mit der chirurgischen Behandlung von 21 einseitigen und 13 beidseitigen Fällen von Osteochondritis dissecans des Humerus des Hundes bekannt. Die Operationstechnik und die klinische Pathologie des Zustands werden beschrieben. In fast allen Fällen wurde die vollständige Wiederherstellung der Extremitätenfunktion innerhalb von drei Monaten nach dem chirurgischen Eingriff erreicht; dies ist ein viel besseres Ergebnis, als mit einer früheren Reihe von Fällen durch konservative Behandlung erzielt wurde. ABSTRACTA condition of the stifle joints of a young Alsatian bitch, resembling osteochondritis dissecans of the humeral head of the dog, is described.
