SUMMARYSlit lamp examination of the canine eye can be performed with sufficient ease to warrant its use in the routine ophthalmologic examination. The use of a specially designed table facilitated the examination. Restraint of the animal has been simplified with the advent of new drugs, but manual restraint is usually sufficient.

摘要:
SUMMARYA technique for biomicroscopy of the canine eye has been developed and found satisfactory for clinical and investigational purposes. The results of the biomicroscopic examination of forty eyes from twenty apparently normal dogs have been summarized and found to contain significant differences from the human eye. As a result, inferences from the human literature would often not be valid. The limitations of numbers, age range, and breed distributions were recognized and additional investigations are continuing. It is anticipated that authors of opthalmic literature will publish their biomicroscopic findings as part of a thorough examination of patients. It will only be through a joint effort that the descriptions of the numerous pathologic conditions will accumulate to which students of veterinary opthalmology may refer.
