摘要:
ABSTRACTThree cases of temporomandibular dysplasia are reported. Crepitus and pain were associated with manipulation of the lower jaw and in two cases there were episodes of open‐mouth jaw‐locking. Jaw‐locking in these two cases was not associated with displacement of the coronoid process of the mandible and impingement on the zygomatic arch. Excision arthroplasty of the temporomandibular joint (mandibular condylectomy) was successful in preventing open‐mouth jaw‐locking and in curing temporomandibular j

摘要:
ABSTRACTPrevious descriptions of the surgical anatomy of the feline middle ear have been misleading, so that the gross features of the double‐shelled configuration are clarified here. Horner's syndrome is a frequent complication of bulla osteotomy in the cat. The authors suggest that overzealous curettage of the promontory is the most likely caus

摘要:
ABSTRACTPrimary hereditary cataract is recorded and described in the German Shepherd Dog in the United Kingdom. The cataract is not congenital, it is bilateral and progressive to a certain point and is unassociated with any other ocular abnormality. It is due to an autosomal, recessive gene. The cataract is compared to that described by von Hippel in Germany in 1930 which was congenital and non‐progressive and due to a dominant gene. The two types of cataract are therefore dissimila

摘要:
ABSTRACTCorrect diagnosis and early initiation of appropriate management in cases presented with a bleeding tendency is important, since failure to achieve these objectives may result in the death of the patient. Whilst the coagulopathy due to vitamin K antagonism caused by coumarin compounds (e.g. Warfarin) is a well known entity, it is by no means the most common cause of bleeding diatheses. The clinical and laboratory features which allow differentiation of the more commonly encountered bleeding disorders highlighted, and aspects of case management covered.

摘要:
ABSTRACTCanine steroid‐induced alkaline phosphatase (SIAP) has been measured quantitatively in an assay which depends on the finding that L‐phenylalanine has a greater inhibitory effect on SIAP than on other plasma isoenzymes. The assay has advantages in precision, practicability and availability over other assays for SIAP. The steroid‐induced isoenzyme was shown to contribute over 40 per cent of the total alkaline phosphatase (AP) activity in over 60 per cent of cases in which the level of AP was r
