ABSTRACTThe clinical and radiographic signs of torsion of the splenic pedicle in three German Shepherd dogs are described. Massive, uniform splenomegaly with distinct outlines was a characteristic finding at radiography. In two cases density of the spleen was greatly increased whilst in the third, in addition to the splenomegaly, there was an associated folding and displacement of the body and pylorus of the stomach.

ABSTRACTAn 8‐year‐old Schnauzer bitch developed a placoid pigmented mass in the dorso‐nasal quadrant of the fundus. A malignant melanoma was diagnosed on the basis of its ophthalmoscopic appearance and on its A and B scan ultrasonography features. Histopathology revealed that the mass was a heavily pigmented spindle B cell melanoma of the choroid. Bruch's membrane was ruptured and the retina was locally detached. The tumour had features similar to choroid melanomas in man which arise from nevi. ABSTRACTA 2‐year‐old male Bouvier de Flandres was admitted because of muco‐haemorrhagic diarrhoea of three weeks duration. Radiographic examination revealed signs of gastrointestinal perforation with peritonitis and ileus. ABSTRACTA radioimmunoassay for canine serum trypsin‐like immunoreactivity (TLI) has been developed and evaluated for use in the diagnosis of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). The maximum fasting TLI concentration in 14 dogs with EPI was 1.8 μg/l, compared with a minimum value of 7.0 μg/l in a control group of 75 dogs. ABSTRACTMyelofibrosis has been reported infrequently in dogs. The pathological features of three dogs with this disease are described. All three animals were presented clinically with non‐regenerative anaemia. In two dogs, the neoplastic disorder was unaccompanied by other myeloproliferative disease and was characterized histologically by extensive replacement of normal bone marrow elements by proliferating reticulum cells and myeloid metaplasia of the enlarged liver and spleen. In one animal, focal myeloid metaplasia were also present in the lungs.
