Abstract——A condition of dysplasia of the right shoulder is described in a 10‐month‐old Labrador bitch, involving an ununited scapula tuberosity. The left shoulder showed marked “looseness” (joint laxity) similar to that of congenital subluxation of the shoulder, whilst third degree hip dysplasia was present bilaterally. Shoulder dysplasia is compared with elbow dysplasia and hip dysplasia. A link between the looseness of the left shoulder joint and the maldevelopment of the right shoulder is considered.Résumé——L'auteur décrit une dysplasie de l'épaule droite, constatée chez une chienne Labrador âgée de 10 mois, la tubérosité de l'omoplate ne donnant pas attache. L'épaule gauche préente une laxitt marquée, comparable à celle qu'entraîne la subluxation congénitale de l'épaule, et les hanches exhibent une dysplasie bilatérale du 3me degré. L'auteur compare la dysplasie de l'épaule, du coude et de la hanche. Il examine le rapport entre la laxité de l'articulation de l'épaule gauche et la malformation de l'épaule droite.Zusammenfassung——Ein Fall von Dysplasie der rechten Schulter bei einer 10 Monate alten Labradorhündin wird beschrieben. Die Tuberosität hatte sich nicht mit dem Schulterblatt vereinigt. Die linke Schulter zeigte eine beachtliche “Lockering” (loses Gelenk), ähnlich wie bei angeborener Subluxation der Schulter, und es bestand eine beidseitige Hüftdysplasie dritten Grades. Ein Vergleich zwischen Dysplasien der Schulter, des Ellbogens und der Hüfte wird aufgestellt und die Möglichkeit erwogen, daß die Lockerung des linken Schultergelenks mit der

Abstract——A case of cervical spondylosis in the cat is described. A number of cases have been diagnosed and well documented in Australia but investigations have not revealed any United Kingdom references to this condition. Regrettably a post‐mortem examination was not possible but X‐rays were taken and are reprinted.Résumé——Description d'un cas de spondylose cervicale chez le chat. Un certain nombre de cas ont été diagnostiqués et étudiés en Australie, tandis que la littérature scientifique du Koyaume‐Uni ne semble contenir aucune mention de cette maladie. L'examen nécropsique n'a malheureusernent pu avoir lieu, mais les radiographies relatives au cas signalé sont reproduites dans l'article.Zusammenfassung——Es wird ein Fall von Zervikalspondylose bei einer Katze beschrieben. Abstract——An investigation, by sending a questionnaire to dog owners, has been made on the occurrence of fits in Tervueren Shepherd dogs in the Netherlands. Indications have been found which favour the concept of an inherited defect. Further research will be required to determine the answers to a number of fundamental questions.Résumé——Les propriétaires des Bergers de Tervueren aux Pays Bas ont été soumis un questionnaire dans le cadres d'une recherche à l'égard des crises d'épilepsie. Des puissantes indications ont été trouvées en faveur d'une conception d'un défaut héréditaire. Abstract——An uncomplicated intracapsular lens extraction with the aid of three types of cryoprobes and two sources of intense cold was attempted in the normal, cataractous, and, misplaced lens categories. Cryoextraction of the intact lens offers no advantage over conventional means in view of the lens anatomy. Its usefulness in extraction of hypermature cataracts, sub‐luxated and luxated lens is questionable and needs to be further evaluated.Résumé——Une extraction intracapsulaire directe à l'aide de trois types de cryosondes et de deux sources de froid intense, a été essayte sur des yeax à cristullins normaux, sur des yeux atteints de cataracte ou sur des yeux dont le cristallin était subluxé. La cryoextraction du cristallin intact ne présente pas d'avantages par rapport à l'extraction traditionnelle en raison de son anatomie.L'utilisé de cette technique d'extraction du cristallin dans les cas de cataractes avancées de subluxation et de luxation de la lentille, est discutable; il sera nécessaire, dans l'avenir, de continuer à en apprécier les indications.Zlasammenfassung—Eine unkomplizierte intrakapsuläre Linsenenternung wurde mit Hilfe von Kryosonden und zwei Tiefsttemperaturquellen versucht, und zwar für die folgenden Kategorien: normale, Star‐ und verlagerte Linsen. Abstract——The differential diagnosis of fluid effusions of the thoracic cavity of cats is considered. Special reference is made to suppurative pleurisy (“granular pleurisy”). This is characterised by the presence of granules in the exudate, similar to those described in pleural actinomycosis of carnivores. The cases described, however, are apparently not due to actinomyces or Nocardia, but to a mixture of organisms, including anaerobic fuso‐bacteria, spirochaetes, streptococci, Pasteurella, and a gram‐positive filamentous organism. The lesion is possibly due to infection from indigenous mouth organisms and could originate from cat bites.Résumé——L'auteur ttudie le diagnostic différentiel des épanchements dam la cavité thoracique chez le chat, compte tenu notamment de la pleurésie suppurée (“granulée”), caractérisée par la présence dam le liquide épanché de granulations semblables à celles de l'actinomycose pleurale des carnivores. Dam les cas examinb, il ne semble toutefois pas s'agir de l'actinomycès ou norcardia, mais plutôt d'un mélange de divers organismes, notamment: fusobactéries anaérobies, spirochètes, streptocoques, pasteurelles et un organisme filamenteux Gram‐positif. Il n'est pas exclu que la léion provienne d'une infection par des organismes buccaux indigènes, à la suite d'une morsure de chat.Zusammenfassung——Die Differentialdiagnose von Pleuraergüssen bei Katzen wird besprochen. Dabei wird die eitrige Rippenfellentzündung (“granulöse Pleuresie”) besonders erwähnt. Diese ist dadurch charakterisiert, daß das Exsudat Granulen enthält. Ähnliche Granulen wurden auch bei Fleischfressern mit Rippenfellaktinomykose beschrieben. Die vorliegenden Fälle sind jedoch anschienend weder Actinomyces noch Norcardia zuzuschreiben, sondern einer Misching von Erregern, unter denen sich anaërobe Fusobakterien, Spirochäten, Streptokokken, Pasteurella und eine Gram‐positive Stäbchenbakterie befinden. Die Erkrankung entsteht wahrscheinlich durch die Übertragung von im Maul behe
