DNCB- and DNCBSO3-sensitized guinea pigs were injected i.v. with DNCBSO3. The following phenomena were recorded: (1) the test reaction to DNCB was inhibited; (2) generalized dermatitis arose, and (3) eosinophilic infiltration occurred spotwise in the epidermis. DNCB- and DNCBSO3-sensitized guinea pigs were united with normal guinea pigs in arteriovenous anastomosis and the sensitized guinea pig was given DNCBSO3 i.v. The aforementioned phenomena occurred in the sensitized guinea pig. The normal guinea pig reacted with generalized dermatitis, but only in a few experiments with epidermal eosinophilia. The same results were obtained when the normal guinea pig was injected with DNCBSO3.

The boric acid concentration in the blood of 21 hospitalised patients, having been treated with wet compresses of boric acid over several days, has been determined. Only in 1 patient a significant rise of the boric concentration was found, probably due to a preexisting kidney damage. On the basis of the assumption that a therapy with boric acid may be dangerous to patients with kidney diseases, laboratory experiments have been carried out with rabbits whose kidneys had been artificially damaged prior to the boric acid application. It could be demonstrated that the half value time of boric acid in the blood was significantly prolonged. In using boric acid, therefore, special care must be taken with regard to existing kidney damages, as the toxic limit in the blood may easily be reached through cumulation.

Two groups of patients were tested with healthy controls for their attraction to mosquitoes. The first group consisted of 12 patients who were desensitized against stings of hymenoptera, the second group of 10 patients suffering from psoriasis. Of the desensitized patients, one third showed a lower attraction to mosquitoes than any of the controls. Nine out of 10 patients suffering from psoriasis had a lower attraction than any of the controls.

One of the major features of epidermal epitheliomas is their highly increased keratin production, a process which ends in the death of the cell. The more extensive this process is, the higher will be the number of cells destroyed and the respiratory metabolism decreases accordingly. No difference is noted in the pattern of the respiratory metabolism between (1) the tumours and their controls, (2) the normal skin and the skin treated with the carcinogen but without tumours.
