摘要:
SummaryFetal echocardiography is a widely accepted approach to the prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease. Many types of structural and functional abnormalities have been reported, although those affecting the four-chamber view of the heart are most accurately diagnosed. Screening for heart disease with the four-chamber view is becoming accepted as a part of general obstetric sonography. Indications for fetal echocardiography and the implications of abnormal findings are reviewed. The most common fetal arrhythmias and treatment strategies are reviewed. Finally, counseling principles and long-term outcomes are discussed.

摘要:
SummaryFeatures of multielement transducer design important to producing high-resolution ultrasound images are discussed. The effects of transducer design on axial resolution, lateral resolution, slice thickness, band widths, and dynamic range are outlined. Simple, readily available methods of measuring some of these parameters are reviewed, and some of the more common artifacts and limitations encountered with modern multielement transducers are described.

摘要:
SummaryTo allow an ultrasound department to maximize productivity with accuracy and patient satisfaction, regular review and evaluation of many aspects of the department must be considered. Issues regarding patient scheduling and reception, examination performance, quality control of the equipment, image interpretation, film processing and retrieval, and report dictation, transcription, and distribution must be constantly analyzed with efforts toward improvement when necessary. Every member of the ultrasound team must know his or her role and help generate policies designed to optimize performance, accuracy, and patient satisfaction.
