摘要:
Understanding and appreciating normal fetal anatomy is an essential prerequisite to detecting and diagnosing fetal structural abnormalities and abnormal intrauterine conditions. This article attempts to comprehensively depict normal obstetric ultrasound anatomy during the first, second, and third trimesters.

摘要:
This article depicts a spectrum of normal and abnormal findings observed during sonography of the urinary bladder. This includes cystic lesions, intrinsic and extrinsic abnormalities, particularly neoplasms, cystitis, and bladder dysfunction. Such conditions may be detected incidentally while imaging adjacent structures, or the bladder itself may be the primary focus of the examination. Techniques for imaging the bladder with ultrasound are reviewed, including standard transabdominal imaging and the use of high resolution, endocavitary (endovaginal and transrectal) probes. The advantages and limitations of these techniques are discussed as well. Pitfalls and artifacts potentially encountered during bladder sonography are illustrated. The goal of this article is to help the reader develop a greater appreciation for the value of sonography in imaging the urinary bladder.

摘要:
Ultrasound-guided biopsies are a safe and effective method to biopsy mass lesions in the solid organs and enlarged lymph nodes or masses of the abdomen and pelvis. This helps determine the presence of malignant (primary, metastatic, recurrent) or benign disease. These biopsies can also elucidate the type of diffuse parenchymal disease present in the liver or kidney. Proper patient selection along with informed consent is necessary before proceeding with the biopsy along with checking the patient's coagulation factors. The biopsy technique and needle used depends on the target organ/mass. The complication rate of these procedures is low, and the pathologic diagnosis provided allows appropriate treatment of the patient.
