摘要:
A data acquisition system has been developed for the analysis of the performance of an experimental reactor unit for coal gasification. Pertinent data such as gas concentrations, temperatures, and pressures at several locations inside the reactor, and the flow rate of supply gases are collected. An automated calibration procedure of the gas analysis system is included. A minicomputer controls the time sequences of the individual events, allowing a high degree of flexibility. The intervals between two gas analyses can be made as short as 30 sec, the other data can be taken arbitrarily often. The system is suitable for expansion to monitor more physical quantities and to increase the number of observation points inside the reactor.

摘要:
A computerized microwave spectrometer system is described that can compute the net microwave absorption spectra of gases at pressures greater than 1 Torr. Absorption spectra observed with this instrument at intermediate pressures for pure NH3, SO2, NO2, and their mixtures are presented. Results indicate the feasibility of the technique for qualitative and quantitative analysis of rarefied atmospheres.

摘要:
A horizontal platinum resistance thermometer, which supported a meniscus above a pool of electrolyte, was used as an electrode. The unique design allowed the simultaneous measurement of electrode potential, current, temperature, and heat flow. Initial results are presented.

摘要:
The voltammetric investigations of organic electrode reactions require a versatile waveform generator. Such a unit, to be used with a conventional potentiostat circuit, was constructed at modest cost using digital and linear integrated circuits. The basic design follows that of Myers and Shain [1], but its capabilities have been increased by using a 1600-Hz tuning fork clock and digital dividers to control hold times, differential comparators to sense preset voltage levels for logic control, and operational amplifiers to give first and second derivatives of the cell current. The output capabilities of this functjon generator are single and multiple triangular waves, ramps with variable holds at preset levels, and combinations of these modes. The initial and final voltages are selectable with either positive or negative voltage ramps. Scan rates with good linearity have been obtained over the range of 10 mV/sec to 100 V/sec.
