摘要:
A method for the determination of gas solubilities in liquids is described which allows the solubility to be measured in repetitive experiments on the same solution at various pressures so that the solubility is determined on the basis of a series of points rather than on a single gas absorption measurement. The gas can be readily changed, keeping the same solution, which facilitates comparison of solubilities of a series of gases in a given solution. Saturation equilibrium can also be easily approached from both directions, viz., from supersaturation or initial unsaturation, thus enabling true saturation solubility to be verified. The method is especially suitable for salting-out determinations.

摘要:
The pressure-jump relaxation technique was reviewed recently. It has proven to be a valuable tool in elucidating the mechanism of chemical reactions. In this paper it will be shown that the time range of applicability can be increased and relaxation times as short as 30 μsec can be measured with this technique. This was mainly achieved by reducing mechanical disturbances following the actual pressure jump. Construction and operation of the apparatus has been simplified as well, so that relaxation measurements can be repeated at a rate of 5/min. This allows sampling of the measurements to increase the accuracy of the results. Electronic data recording and processing has been developed by another team.

摘要:
A relatively simple digitizing interface for use in chemical relaxation experiments is described. It is possible to sample by repeating the experiments and adding the data in a small on-line computer. This technique has considerably improved the accuracy obtainable in relaxation experiments as well as the speed of data acquisition. The relaxation data, which are corrected by the computer program for superimposed exponential decay processes of small amplitude, are available immediately after the experiment. By integrating the analog signal before digitization, nearly optimal electronic filtering is achieved. The technique has been extensively used in the pressure-jump technique but is applicable also to related methods. An example for the application to signals which do not change exponentially with time illustrates further possibilities of the proposed technique.

摘要:
A computer data acquisition system was developed for a shocktube experiment. Shockwave velocity was measured by coimting cycles from a 10-MHz crystal oscillator as the Shockwave passed between fixed sensors on the shocktube. Three interval counts so obtained were transmitted to a Supernova computer under program control at the end of the experiment. During an experiment an IR emission signal from the shockfront was detected, amplified, digitized, and sent to the computer through a data channel port. IR measurement timing was controlled by the acquisition system. The system allows measurement of points to higher accuracy and precision than previous oscilloscope techniques, reduces manual labor and human transcribing errors, and makes additional data processing easier.

摘要:
Apparatus of the Faraday type to measure crystal magnetic susceptibilities is described in conjunction with the method of analysis to deduce the anisotropic molecular magnetic susceptibilities. The relative merits of the Faraday and torsion methods to measure anisotropic susceptibilities are discussed. The principal molecular susceptibilities*which were determined at 293 K for the cesium, potassium, and ammonium copper Tutton's salts indicate orthorhombic distortion in the crystal fields around the copper ion.
