摘要:
BAW-based detectors can be divided into two classes: mass-effect-based and non-mass-effect-based BAW detectors. Only the non-mass-effect-based BAW detectors give satisfactory performance in eluent monitoring. Detector design and operation principle of the SPQC-BAW detector are described in detail in the present paper. Its applications in inorganic, organic and bio-medical analysis are summarized.

摘要:
The design and characterization of two miniature bipotentiostats for use with amperometric biosensors is described. The bipotentiostats are powered by 9V batteries and have counter electrode potential swings of ± 1.5 V and ± 3.0 V, respectively. In the first, a voltage signal, proportional to the current generated by the sensor, is transferred to a data logger. In the second, the output signal is transmitted to a personal computer through an opto-coupler by pulse width modulation so as to electrically isolate the system in or on the body from the external AC line. The devices accurately measure currents in the nA range and their output signals are stable for over 100 h. They are suitable for use in bothin vitroandin vivostudies requiring accurate amperometry.

摘要:
An imaging detection system that measures proteins, focused in a capillary by capillary isoelectric focusing (CIEF), is described. The light source of the imaging detector is a He-Ne laser. The light beam from the laser was focused into the capillary by a cylindrical lens. A 1024-pixel linear photodiode array measured the intensity of the light beam passing through the capillary. The alignment of the detector was optimized and different capillary types were tested to minimize noise. A computer-based data-acquisition system for the linear photodiode array sensor, faster than the system previously used by this laboratory, is also described. A combination of hardware and software provides many data-acquisition and calculation options useful for simultaneous acquisition of imaging spectra and improvement in S/N ratio.

摘要:
The use of a time-temperature signal present in a simultaneous TG-DTA analyser is described. The melting behaviours, on the DTA signal, of indium, aluminium and zinc are reported as the basis to illustrate the performance of the equipment for acquisition of relevant data. This only requires the signal from the sample thermocouple to be recorded. By noting the perturbation of the time - temperature signal from the projected baseline, a curve similar to the conventional DTA curve can be obtained.

摘要:
A method of comparing the reactivity of single-step decomposition is introduced which avoids the complexity of utilizing the Arrhenius parameters. The materials chosen for this comparison are microcrystalline cellulose and corn starch, which degrade, in a single stage, to a carbon. A comparison between these two materials was also made for the first stage of combustion in air. The method relies on the calculation of the mass loss data from the thermogravimetry unit being converted into α, the fraction decomposed. The data for corn starch is plotted against the fraction of microcrystalline cellulose decomposed, and a comparison between the reactivities of the two is made. By this method, corn starch was found to be more reactive than microcrystalline cellulose in terms of both decomposition and pyrolysis.
