摘要:
The program and hardware for a versatile, computer-controlled flow injection analysis system is described. The motivation behind the design of the system is the ability of the user to select strictly “off the shelf” components to build an FIA system, which will allow computer control of pumps, data acquisition, and data evaluation in a graphic, laboratory notebook style readout. An IBM XT or AT personal computer (or compatible) and an IBM Data Acquisition and Control Adapter are used to control pumps in stopped flow, reversed flow, and variable speed modes. The data collection during a measurement cycle is initiated by an injection valve switch. Data are simultaneously acquired in a background process and plotted to the screen and chart recorder (if desired) in real time. Data files are created in a general format suitable for storage and retrieval by the program, or for evaluation by other data analysis techniques such as partial least squares or multiple linear regression.

A simple to use, auto-ranging four point probe is described. The full scale ranges for the instrument progresses in decade steps from 2 Giga Ohms to 2 Milli Ohms. The operator intervention is limited to sample insertion, lowering the probe head and recording the results.

摘要:
Modifications to the magnet power supply of a magnetic sector mass spectrometer are described which allow for either control of the magnet current or the magnetic field and which provide two kinds of scan, capacitor discharge and a scan linear in mass. The scan direction can be toward increasing or decreasing field strength in either case. The linear scan can be generated manually or through a computer and commercial data system interfaced to the mass spectrometer. These modifications, implemented on a CEC-DuPont 21-110B mass spectrometer, have resulted in higher scan speeds and better stability and reliability. However, the real advantages brought about have been large increases in ease of use and sample throughput.

摘要:
In this paper a scheme using an Intel MCS-51 single chip microcomputer to control an instrument for automated cell potential measurement is presented. The system hardware and control software are discussed in detail. The sampling of solutions, the measurement of samples, and the acquisition of data are controlled by a single chip microcomputer. This fully digitally controlled instrument is small in size and exhibits high reliability.

摘要:
A membrane gas separator was combined with a metal oxide gas sensor to form an in-situ monitoring system for combustible gases in the flue stack of fossil-fired boilers. The membrane protects sensitive gas sensors from the hostile stack gas environment, while providing acceptable response time. The concept was demonstrated in the laboratory using hydrogen or carbon monoxide in air on the primary side of the gas separator and at temperatures as high as 200°C.
