摘要:
The construction of a multichannel direct reading spectrometer for the study of spark or hollow cathode sources is described. This spectrometer design allows the studý of different excitation sources with significant cost savings as compared with separate instruments. This report describes the instrumentation, hardware and software, used in the system which is capable of high-speed integration for time resolution in the microsecond range for transient events as well as simple data logging needed for continuous sources. The design of the system allows the analysis of extremely small samples such as the nanoliter size samples used in renal research. Preliminary data on instrument performance utilizing both the hollow cathode and spark emission sources is presented.

摘要:
Spectroscopic applications of the recently described method of arc lamp stabilization by the addition of a small (<2v) alternating current (AC) to a direct current (DC) arc lamp are discussed. A possible explanation for the improved arc stability is presented. Evaluation of arc formation and spatial behavior is monitored by a series of still photographs of the arc image. Observation of the electrode surfaces in similar photographs provide insight into the distribution of heat in the inter-electrode region. A photodiode array imaging device is used to accurately detect lateral movement of the arc image over prolonged time periods. Advantages of AC stabilized lamps in spectroscopic applications are also presented.

摘要:
A modified system for pneumatic injection in graphite furnace is proposed. The pneumatic injection yield (volume of really injected liquid/aspirated volume) for a commercial nebuliser is lower than 10%; the proposed modifications make it quantitative allowing a spectacular lowering of sample consumption.

摘要:
A microprocessor based Energy Dispersive X-ray Diffraction system is described. The system is built around three 8085 microprocessors and is suitable for performing rapid structural analysis. It can acquire four spectra in programmable memory banks and can do online data analysis. The software includes a nonlinear least square fitting program, which can fit the complete diffraction pattern at a time. To highlight the data processing capabilities of this system, we have presented the results for a simple solid.
