摘要:
Hepatitis B infection represents a significant occupational hazard to health care workers who have frequent contact with blood and body fluids from patients with hepatitis B. This article provides I.V. nurses with basic information on the disease, preventive techniques to limit the acquisition of the disease, and an overview of active and passive immunization, including the hepatitis B vaccine.

摘要:
Effective communication is vital to the successful performance of the management function. The ability to adapt one's communication style to be most understood by various listeners is key to effective people management. In addition, this ability to adapt the communication style to the listener makes the desired behavioral response more likely. An obstacle faced by many I.V. nurse managers is the environment within which they must must effectively communicate. Hospitals are dynamic. Varied levels of stress, educational differences, and organizational status are but a few of the obstacles to communication. Whether working with subordinates, peers or supervisors, being able to identify behavior types and communicate effectively to each will promote more effective people management by I.V. therapy managers.

摘要:
Home I.V. therapy programs offer hospitals an avenue into the out-of-hospital service market. Hospitals have existing facilities and experienced personnel to provide home I.V. therapy services to their patients who qualify. Presented is one 250-bed hospital's experience with the development and implementation of a home I.V. therapy program and the successful results achieved.
