摘要:
Pollen morphology was used to clarify some taxonomic differences in the classification of the Loteae tribe and the genusLotus. The analysis of palynological data by numerical techniques indicated a clear taxonomic separation of many higher categories. SubgeneraSyrmatium, SimpeteriaandAcmisponwere determined to be most closely related, while subgenusHosackiais separate. Old WorldLotuswas found to be stenopalynous while New WorldLotuswas eurypalynous, thereby separating the species into two phytogeographical regions. Various taxonomic treatments were examined and Old WorldLotusappeared to be more clearly defined than the relationships between the North American taxa. This is supported by the results of the palynological study. Some taxa considered asLotussensu stricto may require classification into other genera. The results indicated affinities within or between taxa the subgeneric and specific level which should aid in selecting possible taxa combinations for purposes of plant breeding and molecular studies.

摘要:
Amborella trichopodaBaillon is a vesselless New Caledonian endemic in a family of its own, the Amborellaceae. Pollen is boat-shaped-elliptic to subglobose and small to medium sized. It is mono-aperturate, heteropolar, with the aperture probably at the distal pole (anaulcerate to anasulcate) or apolar and inaperturate. Inaperturate pollen appears to have evolved incompletely inAmborella. The exine has ornamentation of a gemmate-like appearance but consists of small cupules constructed of coiled cylindrical strands (ca. 100–130 nm diameter), bearing small spines. The sexine is ca. 0.5–1.0 μm thick and overlies a foot layer 0.2–0.4 μm thick. An endexine is absent. The intine has an outer zone containing tubular material within and adjacent to apertures. Pollen morphology supports the retention of the Amborellaceae as a separate family, within the Laurales.

摘要:
Pollen morphology of nine species of the coryphoid genusLicualaWurmb. (Palmae) is studied under light and scanning electron microscopes. The pollen grains have tectate exine with reticulate to microreticulate and punctate pattern. Exine stratification of similar type is also known in other coryphoid genera, e.g.,Livistona, Sabal, Chamaerops, Corypha, BraheaandWashingtonia. Variations in the exine pattern in relation to the habitat of the plant is discussed.

摘要:
Cytopalynological studies have been carried out inCelosia(Amaranthaceae) — a polyploid species complex having both wild and cultivated species. The studies includeC. trigyna2× (wild),C. argentea4× and 8× (wild), 8× colchiploid, 12× (synthetic),C. cristata4× (cultivated: varieties and cultivars),C. whiteii12× (wild), and F1 hybrids (i)C. argentea4× (wild) ×C. argentea8× (wild)-6×, (ii)C. argentea12× (synthetic) ×C. whiteii12× (wild)-12×, (iii)C. whiteii12× (wild) ×C. argentea12× (synthetic)-12×. Though the genus is stenopalynous with pantoporate pollen grains, cytotypic differences have been observed in pollen size, exine ornamentation and exine thickness even at varietal and cultivar levels.C. trigyna, the diploid wild species is clearly separated by pollen size and exine ornamentation from 4×, 8× and 12× species. In the F1 hybrids, the exine characters are intermediate between the parents. In reciprocal 12× F1 hybrids, the pollen size is variable and resembles that of the male parent in each case, though other exine features are similar in both.

摘要:
Mineral content of pollen populations from six species growing in the screes of the alpine vegetation zone of the Pyrénées Orientales (France) was analyzed using Energy Dispersive X-ray analysis in conjunction with scanning electron microscope. Five elements were always found in the exine of all pollen grains (P, S, Cl, K, Ca). The relative amounts of these elements detected in pollen grains were independant from the geological nature of the underlying scree. An important between-population variability of mineral contents of the pollen exine was also detected that was independent of the mineral content of the soil. Thus, this polymorphism shows that the mineral content of the exine of a pollen grain is representative of the population but not of the species it belongs to.

摘要:
An aerobiological study to determine the spectrum of air spora and to identify the potential aero-allergens in Auckland, New Zealand was undertaken at three different locations spanning an area of 30 km, encompassing agricultural, horticultural and forested environments within the region. Burkard volumetric 7-day recording spore traps were operated at each of three locations for 12 months period. In two locations, basidiospores (damp-spora) dominated the overall concentration of airborne species followed by “dry-spora” at the third location. The fourteen most frequent categories of fungal air spora were selected to study the influences of meteorological factors. Hourly meteorological and spore data were computed and the “Spearman Rank” correlation coefficient method was used to analyse for relationships. The results showed significant negative correlations between wind speed and basidiospores ofGanoderma, and with the coloured “basidiospores group”. Significant positive correlations were found between mean, maximum and midnight temperatures, and basidiospores ofGanoderma, Coprinues, Hypholoma, “coloured” and “hyaline” basidiospores as well as with conidia ofCladosporiumandPolythrincium. The strongest correlations were demonstrated byCladosporiumconidia andCoprinusbasidiospores. Relative humidity and rainfall showed significant correlations with ascospores, whileLeptosphaeriaascospores showed significant strong correlations with rainfall on the day of sampling. “Aspergillus-Penicillium” type did not show any significant correlation with any of the meteorological factors.

摘要:
The pollen wall ultrastructure of eight species ofCyanellaincluding one species (C. amboensis) thought to have affinities withConantherawas investigated. Pollen in all eight species is monosulcate, heteropolar, operculate (except inC. alba, which lacks an operculum) and with a tectatecolumellate pollen wall. Despite the similarity of pollen, two groups withinCyanellaare distinguished by differences in habitat and floral morphology.
