摘要:
Pollen grains of the tribe Pavetteae (Rubiaceae, subfamily Ixoroideae) are examined using LM and SEM. Grains are 3‐ or 4‐colporate and (semi‐) tectate (in oneVersteegiaspecies atectate). Sexine patterns vary between perforate, microreticulate, reticulate, rugulate and striato‐reticulate. Supratectal elements are sometimes present. The variation in pollen morphology in the Pavetteae allows to recognize seven pollen types, the distribution of which is useful to evaluate generic delimitations and relationships within the tribe. Pollen characters corroborate the close relationships between the generaColeactina, DictyandraandLeptactinaand betweenHomollea, HomolliellaandParacephaelis. All the genera of the tribe proved to be stenopalynous (the species examined possess the same pollen type), exceptPavetta, Rutidea, VersteegiaandTarennawhich are eurypalynous. In the huge genusPavettathe existing infrageneric classification is supported pollen morphologically. Pollen morphology further indicates that the genusTarennais badly delimited and strongly in need of a revision. The small genusVersteegiais in need of further taxonomic and palynological study to understand the pollen morphological variation encountered here. At a higher rank, pollen morphology also does not contradict the recent division of the Pavetteae in the Ixoreae (a stenopalynous tribe with presumably primitive pollen) and the Pavetteae sensu stricto (eurypalynous).

摘要:
A palynological study by LM and SEM was made of 26 taxa ofPotentillaL. subg.Potentilla.It is more precise on material from 110 populations, mainly from the western Mediterranean. On the basis of morphometry, the subg.Potentillacan be said to have a stenopalynous nature, due to the absence of significant differences between the taxa studied and to the high degree of overlapping shown by their range of variation. With respect to ornamentation, which is striate, onlyP. rupestrispollen can be separately identified by a much more marked striation than the other species studied. An attempt was made to observe the taxonomic and phylogenetic relationships between the species of the natural groups ofPotentillaon the basis of their pollen characters.

摘要:
The pollen content of a total of 530 honeys from the major beekeeping areas of Galicia (Northwest Spain) was analysed using the methods of Louveaux et al. (1978). The results indicate that Galician honeys can be divided into 5 groups in which the relative proportions of the five most abundant pollen types(Castanea saliva, Eucalyptus globulus, Rubusspp.,Cytisus‐typeandEricaspp.) vary between the different production areas. Honeydew is typically absent or present in negligible amounts and the total pollen content is typically low (despite the fact that the most important pollen types,CastaneaandEucalyptustend to be over‐represented). Other pollen species such as(Diplotaxis erucoides, Hypecoum procumbens, Olea europaea, Cistus ladanifer, Helianthus animus, Citrusspp. andLavandulaspp.) which are abundant in honeys from the Mediterranean areas of Spain are absent or present only in very small amounts.

摘要:
Bet v 1, the major allergen of birch pollen, has been reported to be synthetized in pollen grains shortly before anthesis. In order to obtain a better understanding of the causative agents of allergic symptoms which appear before the actual pollen season, the activity birch pollen antigen in outdoor air have been studied, using polyclonal antibodies against birch pollen, and monoclonal antibodies against Bet v 1. Using a size‐selective bioaerosol sampler (SSBAS), birch pollen antigen concentrations were analysed separately in different particle size classes, down to the molecular size range.

摘要:
An aerobiological study was made of Urticaceae pollen in the city of Granada, relating the mean values of the daily counts to meteorological parameters. Sampling was carried out with a Burkard seven‐day‐recording spore trap from October 1992 to September 1997. This pollen type has an extremely long main pollen season (MPS), with maximum counts in (January) February, March and April, causing numerous cases of human pollinosis throughout the entire Mediterranean region, including Granada. A highly constant intradiurnal variation pattern was obtained showing that the maximum peaks usually occur between 12.00 and 20.00. According to Spearman's correlation coefficient, during the pre‐peak period the parameters which have the greatest effect on the levels of this type of pollen are daily and accumulated temperature and sunshine, accumulated rainfall, and wind direction from the third quadrant; during the post‐peak period these same variables presented significantly negative coefficients. Daily rainfall and relative humidity presented negative coefficients during the entire MPS. The maximum daily temperature was the variable which provided the closest match with the theoretical predictive pattern presented here.

摘要:
Although pressure‐sensitive adhesive tapes appear to offer many advantages over traditional adhesives in sampling with a Hirst‐type spore trap, their particle capturing efficiency has never been documented. In this paper, the particle capture efficiency of four pressure‐sensitive adhesive tapes was compared to the standard vaseline adhesive in the Burkard 7‐day volumetric spore trap. The capture efficiency was assessed at flow rates of 8 and 101 min−1over a 16 week period with each tape run alongside the standard. Image analysis was used to count and measure the surface area of individual inorganic and organic particles collected onto each tape. Approximately 230,000 individual particles were analysed, the majority of particles collected on both standard and pressure‐sensitive adhesive tapes had a surface area less than 150 μm2(approximately diameter 14 μm). Capture efficiency was expressed as a percentage of the counts on the standard and classified by particle size and flow rate. For particles < 1000 μm2(<36 μm in diameter), the best adhesive tape captured 247.6% at 81 min−1and 132.5% at 101 min−1. For particles > 1000 μm2, the best adhesive tape captured 86.9% at 81 min−1and 69.8% at 101 min−1. In addition to image analysis, manual counts of pollen grains andAlternaria‐like spore were performed over a four day period for each adhesive and parallel standard at the flow rate of 101 min−1. On the adhesive tapes, pollen grains <20 μm, and pollen grains >20 μm with heavy ornamentation and/or free standing exine elements were captured best. For the best adhesive tape, the capturing efficiency compared to the standard vaseline was 83% for all pollen grains and 60% forAlternaria‐like spores.

摘要:
At the Department of Physical Geography, Göteborg University, the Cour's pollen filter was used to calculate the aerial mass flow and concentration of marine salts in coastal and inland locations. During this work, it became apparent that a correction formula for obtaining the flow through the filter was required. This was obtained by acquiring correct concentration values from the flow through an undisturbed, equally‐sized cross section beside the filter. Cour (1974) suggests that concentration values should be multiplied by a factor of five but also adds that the relation is wind speed dependant. Hence, an aerodynamic investigation was performed in a wind tunnel at five different reference wind speeds. The air flow through the filter was thus found to depend on reference wind speed as a 4th grade polynomial. The airflow through the filter is insignificantly affected by applied contamination of wheat flour or pollen grains to the filter surface up to approximately 500 mg. Above is an increasing risk for reduced flow. The reduction can be estimated using the results of this work. Applying the correction to existing data showed that the correction effect decreases with increasing reference wind speed. Due to the form of the polynomial, a correction is not recommended outside the approximate interval 2<uref>27 ms−1.
