AbstractThe existence of immunopotentiator factors able to induce blastogenesis, chemotaxis and able of inhibiting migration of leukocytes was investigated in alcohol precipitates of different batches of dialyzed leukocyte extracts (DLE). These were prepared either out of fresh leukocytes from a large pool of buffy coats obtained from all blood collected from healthy donors with irrelevant antigen sensitiveness (DLE‐NS) or from similar leukocytes which were incubated during 19 h for interferon production (DLE‐NS‐I). Alternatively, the same factors were investigated on a batch of DLE obtained from a donor exquisitely sensitive toCandidaantigen (C‐DLE‐CS). It was observed that all the three batches contained equal amounts of either specific or nonspecific immunological enhancing factors. The similarity of the intensity of specific factors between the so‐called nonspecific batches (DLE‐NS and DLE‐NS‐I) and the specific batch (C‐DLE‐CS) was interpreted to be the result of the random selection of the donors for the preparation of the nonspecific batches, which consequently contain randomized relevant specificities.It is postulated, therefore, that batches of DLE which represent a large waste of leukocytes used for interferon production can be a useful tool for double‐bli

Abstract13 anti‐Rh sera were compared for their usefulness in the detection of Fc‐receptor‐bearing lymphocytes (EAhumtest). IgG subclasses of anti‐Rh antibodies were determined by the antiglobulin test with monospecific sera and by the detection of Gm allotypic markers in the haemagglutination inhibition test. Six sera with IgG1+ IgG3or IgG1+ IgG2+ IgG3antibodies and one with pure IgG3antibodies were found to be useful, whereas six other sera with only IgG1were unsuitable for the EAhumtest. G3m markers were detected only on the anti‐Rh antibodies which were capable of forming rosettes with lymphocytes. The data show that human peripheral lymphocytes possess Fc receptors for IgG3immuno

AbstractExperiments are described which demonstrate that when the Landsteiner heat elution technique is used to prepare eluates from group A cells, some A substance as well as anti‐A is released into the eluates. The concentration found is greatest from A1RBC and least from Ax, suggesting a relationship with the number of antigen sites on RBC of the various subgroups. Further experiments have shown that the presence of this A‐specific substance in eluates accounts for the well‐know phenomenon that anti‐A from selected group O sera, when eluted from A1RBC, will not agglutinate Axeven though the original serum showed an appreciable titre against Ax.
