SummaryRed cells exposed to a serum contaminated withB. cereusand subsequently exposed to fresh normal serum and then washed were strongly agglutinated by an anti‐human globulin serum. The reaction was shown to be due to adsorption ofB. cereus on to the red cells, followed by adsorption of an antibody againstB. cereusand by the adsorption of complement. The red cells were then agglutinated by an anti‐“non‐gamma” globulin serum.The antibody againstB. cereuswas found in almost all samples of normal serum including samples from newborn infants.RésuméDes érythrocytes mis en contact avec un sérum contaminé par le B. Cereus, mis en contact ensuite avec un sérum normal frais et enfin lavés sont fortement agglutinés par le sérum antiglobuline humaine. Les auteurs ont pu dBmontrer que la réaction est due à l'absorption du B. Cereus sur les érythrocytes suivie de l'absorption d'un anticorps dirigé contre le B. SummaryThe rare blood‐group antibody anti‐Lubwas found in a woman who had never been transfused. The antibody caused mild haemolytic disease in her second child. — The patient's first pregnancy resulted in a stillbirth, but it seems unlikely that this stillbirth was caused by the antibody. It was found that the Lubantigen is not fully developed at birth.RésuméL'auteur a trouvé chez une femme n'ayant jamais requ de transfusion de sang le très rare anticorps anti‐érythrocytaire anti‐Lub. L'anticorps incriminé est la cause d'une maladie hémolytique modérée du second enfant de cette femme.La première grossesse de la patiente s'est soldée par la naissance d'un enfant mort‐né, mais il semble peu probable que cet accident de grossesse soit dû à cet anticorps. SummaryA hemolytic transfusion reaction is reported in which no incompatibility was demonstrable in vitro. However, a determination of the survival time of Cr51‐tagged red cells from several donors showed that only eight to 17 per cent of the cells were present in the recipient's circulation 30 hours after the injection.RésuméLes auteurs décrivent une réaction transfusionnelle hémolytique dans laquelle aucune incompatibilité ne peut être démontrée in vitro. SummaryA severe hemolytic transfusion reaction due to the presence of a potent anti‐Leain the patient's serum is described. The antibody was markedly hemolytic in vitro, especially against enzyme treated red cells. With carefully supervised therapy and restriction of fluids the patient recovered without any apparent kidney damage. The results of red cell and saliva studies on the patient's family are given.RésuméLes auteur décrivent une réaction transfusionnelle grave due à la présence d'un anti‐Leapuissant dans le sérum d'une patiente. Cet anticorps était très fortement hémolytique in vitro et plus spécialement à l'égard d'érythrocytes traités par des enzymes protéolytiques.Grâce à une étroite surveillance du traitement et à la diète hydrique, la patiente a pu se remettre sans lésions rénales apparentes irréversibles.
