&NA;A patient bled from the margins of his ileostomy stoma 19 years after proctocolectomy for total colitis. He was found to have portal hypertension and cirrhosis, and &agr;‐fetoprotein was detected in the serum. He died later from a hepatoma.

&NA;A case of cancer of the sigmoid colon in a young adult was presented. Except for fever, the other presenting symptoms of rectal bleeding, abdominal pains, change of bowel pattern, palpable mass in the abdomen and diarrhea are common to young and older age groups alike. The prognosis is less favorable in the young, and therefore thorough investigation should be done in the young as well as in older patients who have these symptoms.

&NA;A report of two unusual metastatic sites in four patients with colonic and rectal carcinoma is presented. Two patients developed metastases to the nose and two others to the vagina. Eventually the two patients with metastases to the nose developed hepatic metastases and died of disease.

&NA;A family with three female siblings affected with imperforate anus and rectovaginal fistula is reported. This is the twelfth family in the literature with more than one member born with imperforate anus. A multifactorial genetic etiology of this condition is suggested.

&NA;Colitis cystica profunda manifests as a nodular or polypoid defect, either localized or diffuse, on barium enema examination. Differentiation from a neoplasm by histologic examination is necessary, as the lesion may resemble a mucoid carcinoma.
