&NA;Paracolostomy hernias are common and require treatment when symptomatic. Traditional methods of repair have high recurrence rates. We describe a new technique using polytetrafluorethylene mesh, which offers preservation of stoma site, lack of recurrences, ease, and safety.

&NA;A rare case of a patient who presented with a presacral tumor is described. The tumor, after complete resection, was shown to be a primary adenocarcinoma. After potential sources such as gastrointestinal, pancreas, or prostate were eliminated, the diagnosis of primary presacral adenocarcinoma was made. Possible origins of this unusual tumor are discussed.

PURPOSE:A patient with a solitary colonic ulcer had sudden onset of crampy abdominal pain, anorexia, fever, and vomiting, with signs of positive peritoneal irritation.METHODS:The diagnosis was proved by histopathologic examination of right hemicolectomy material.RESULTS:An emergency laparotomy, with right hemicolectomy and ileotransversostomy, gave complete relief from symptoms. The patient was still asymptomatic at the two‐year follow‐up, and control colonoscopic examinations performed at 6 and 18 months after the operation were normal.CONCLUSION:Preoperative diagnosis of perforated solitary colonic ulcers localized at the right hemicolon may mimic acute appendicitis, and intraoperative findings may mimic colonic carcinoma. If the preoperative diagnosis is not certain, right hemicolectomy and ileotransversostomy, with regular colonoscopic controls, is a safe procedure in the treatment and follow‐up of these patients.

PURPOSE:We present two cases of diffuse cavernous hemangioma of the rectum that invaded the pelvic structures.METHODS:Two young women suffering from intermittent rectal bleeding were studied using computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.RESULTS:Beside the rectal hemangioma, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed that the pelvic ureter and the iliac vessels were each eroded by the tumor that produced symptoms in these two patients.CONCLUSION:Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging permit direct visualization for tumor staging and also for recognition of any pelvic structure invasion, which facilitate preoperative assessment of diffuse cavernous hemangioma of the rectum.
